chris, you say - I think Trump has done more for American prosperity in 3 weeks than Obummer did in 8 years.....!

i don't think that's true.  if you stand back and look, the only prosperity he's created is for investors, fat cats, Wall St folks, stock holders, and basically rich people.  I've got a feeling this is going to become the theme of the Trump presidency - the rich get richer.  This will further divide the country into two economic classes, the haves and the have-nots.  And in about a year when the have-nots figure out what's happening, there will be trouble.  Maybe the headline next year will be, "President Trump plans to deport all citizens with a net worth less than $1M"

Prosperity for the "rich" means jobs for you and I....!  Plain and simple.  They are the job creators, the ones who risk their capital.  You have to get it out of your mind that capitalism, making money, and that being rich are bad things. I am a stock holder in many companies and I offer no apologies to anyone who thinks that is a bad thing or that I should be ashamed.  Making money is good, capitalism is great, and if you are a "have not" like I was you should keep going to school, get a college degree in something marketable, and work 3 jobs and you will be a "have" in just 8 to 10 years like I did...!    Oh, and one of those jobs was a graveyard shift at the SF airport starting when I was a senior in high school.  All of my senior year, my friends went out to party at midnight and I went to work for 8 hours..!    And the last 8 years have been tough on me because my taxes went way up, my wages stayed stagnant, and my medical co pays and insurance have skyrocketed.  And this all happened while I was getting my first one out of college and putting two more into college.  Surprise....!  My wife and I make too much to write off any college expenses....!   Thank you IRS tax code, congress, democrats, progressives, and Obummer...!   Me, the middle class they always talk about, can't write off any college expenses.  Just got the bill for the next semester of college for my last one who is a freshman....    Over 20K, that's just the semester...  Not the whole year.  I'll do it over time with a combination of loans, paying it down, and picking up extra days at work, and I won't be able to write off a single dime....!   So please park your economic class warfare theory where it belongs, in the past and directly on Obama's lap.  Cutting the corporate and individual tax rates, allowing US corporations to bring money back in from offshore, and cutting regulation and red tape will be the best thing that could happen for the USA right now. Now please look up the Laffer Curve and study it.  If you already know about it great, if not, please read.   Why has the economy been stagnant these last 8 years......   Maybe that 37% tax rate has something to do with it....?    Chris

I don't have time today to write a full response to your comments.  I'll do it later sometime.  but, two quick ideas.  First, the Laffer Curve is a theory only.  Didn't you criticize global warming in another listing because it's only a theory?  and here, you soundly defend the Laffer Curve theory.  maybe you should treat all theories the same and be consistent?  Second, in 2012 the state of Kansas, based on Laffer Curve ideas, dramatically reduced their tax rates with the idea it would increase state tax revenue.  It hasn't worked.  The Kansas state budget is a disaster, $200M deficit in 2013.  so in some cases, the Laffer curve doesn't work.  There's hard data.  that's why it's still a theory.

AGW is a "hypothesis" in my opinion....  Not a theory, same with Laffer, a "hypothesis" or "construct" in my opinion.  Did not soundly defend Laffer in any way, I just think it's demonstrated to be a reasonable tool to predict taxation and revenue over time.    Just turning you on to it if you have not heard of it before.  And whatever happened in Kansas I don't care really or care to look it up....  What I know, and what has proven to be so, is that lower taxes increase government revenues and stimulate the economy, creates jobs.  Happens every time you try it.  What kills the economy is high taxation and over regulation.  Every time taxes are increased it stunts the economy, every time...!  The sweet spot for taxation is right at about 19% if I remember the consensus on Laffer.......    Oh, and the leftist, keynesian, socialist progressives hate Laffer and his curve so you'll find many an op ed article out there to discredit him and his curve.  Sad thing for them is that he is right.  Chris

You're a better man than I Chris but you are right of course. Apologies to Barrron (though i did make him emperor for life)..The kid has a rough enough trip as it is. Blood pressure just fine considering. Tucker devoting a lot of time and nights to Electors who may vote against Trumpolini. Mike Farrell from MASH also tangled with Tucker and actually got the better of Carlson too imo.

Well done Trails.....    I just got a kick out of Barron at about 0330 on the night of the election....   He could care less what his father had to say....!   The poor kid was falling asleep standing up in his shoes....!   Cute kid, I'll leave him alone until he's 18 or 19 and at Harvard and gets busted with alcohol, dope, three hookers, and a Llama in the dorm....!  Chris

Chris,  very familiar with the Laffer Curve here.  Here's something about my background.  Moved here from Denver area last summer.  Semiretired freelance writer specializing in business issues of high tech companies in the rocky mountain states.  Written lots of articles for ColoradoBIZ, BizWest, Confluence Denver, and IBD magazines.  Done some for the WSJ, Denver Post, and Boulder Daily Camera also.

I took a keen interest in 2012 when Kansas decided to test the idea of increasing state tax revenue by reducing state tax rates, a Laffer Curve concept.  the results in a word, disaster.  I invite you to just take a quick look at what happened in Kansas.  State revenues have been in decline since 2012, state bond ratings have been downgraded several times, school funding has been cut, state infrastructure projects cancelled, job growth is non-existent.  it's a mess.  In the Kansas case, supply side economics didn't work.  it's a cautionary tale.

Cool, most people have never even heard of it.  Good for you, and I do love the IBD and the WSJ and have been to Boulder a few times on business, a very cool town.  I'll take a look into your Kansas story as my time permits.....  You must agree though, lots of other variables in the economy, just like the weather....   I am a big fan of supply side economics.  Remember, Kennedy and Reagan both freed up the peoples money by lowering taxes and stimulated the economy at the beginning of their Presidencies.  Sad thing is that politicians caught up with them and messed up the whole thing.  I have a feeling if Trump does the same thing we will be ok for four years or so and then the politicians will muck it up again with more taxation and regulation.   Chris

Trails, how was the waterboarding...?   I hear it is rather uncomfortable but not as bad as getting your head cut off.

And what were you doing driving in Big Sur in the winter, never a good idea.....  At your age you should know better...!

Careful in wishing for Tornado's on others, Karma may be watching you closely....

And Mattis, I don't think he's ever quit anything in his life except maybe booze and cigarettes.....

and now for my headline....

Folsom Trails admits he was wrong about Trump.   After Trump's first 18 months in office Trails is called to Washington for a "huge" meeting with the President...  Trails pictured wearing a red "Make America Great Again" cap after meeting and smiling from ear to ear...   Just after Trails visit it was noticed the Churchill and Ronald Reagan busts were missing from the oval office.....   Trails seen checking in an extra heavy suitcase and Washington Dulles....   Details at 11....
