Hey Tess babe...

let me know when the next stinking board meeting is going to be and I'll be there...

I remember the last time the spoiled teachers raised hell back in 99....

There are a lot of parents on this forum that don't have the courage to speak against the teacher for fear of "retaliation"... and I bet your kids get some of it...

Nancy told me her's got some grief when she was on the school board... and I know on of my kids got some grief for it too...l

These teachers are in it for themselves not for the kids.... but oh they love to use that phrase...

ITS FOR KIDS...

I hope to God that my kids' teachers maintain enough professionalism that they do not take anything out on them. It has happened in the past, but this year is so far, so good. Last night some teachers who do not have her as a student were making derogatory remarks toward and about my daughter. I am sure this is only because of her shared last name since she rarely shares opinions with me. It is unconscionable to allow emotions to take you that far.

Anyway, last night's meeting was adjourned, and the current plan is to continue it to the next meeting date of March 15. Instead of holding it at Mills, we will use a larger facility, such as Cordova High gym so that we allow everyone a chance to voice their concerns.

That's very immature. I am not my mother and my daughter is not me. Ripping on your kids is below the belt. It just shows how emotional this subject is to the teachers.

Please, please, please teachers: do not let this affect the students. This is between the adults in the district and the union.

(I'm happy to report that my daughter's teacher was not wearing a green shirt today. I'm glad that she thinks 5-year olds shouldn't be exposed to what's going on.)

Yea but CW....

the Folsom Cordova Teachers Union has members that are not above this kind of despicable behavior...

They lost me years ago even before the Measure "O" campaign to split the district...

Teachers as a group are a bunch of wimps that when they get together will be shrill and ugly against anyone who speaks against them....

Here's the thing...last night was epic. I feel more solidarity than ever. If you think we are going away now you are sadly mistaken. My students haven't a clue what's going on and I plan to keep it that, but I have to say that last night's move was right out of the school board playbook. Everyone there knew that you were going to call it after planning for the meeting in the tiny FHS library. What??? I told you we were coming. And I even washed for supper!

EDF...I was there the last time you spoke. You are giving yourself way too much credit.

Last night we had over 500 people up in arms. Next time, we'll double it.

It's easy to hide the scowl on your face here, but at the board meeting it's not as easy. And...it's a shame when the super will not even make eye contact with the parents who come to speak.

A year and a half ago Pat Godwin told the teachers to "(censored) UP!" meaning to not put up with the same old BS, to show some spunk...well, I think just maybe...he may have to eat his words because those words are the ones filtering around today. Classic...

Another response...how do you know I'm not your child's teacher? I'm telling you, you haven't a clue who I am. Your student could be in my class. You'll never know...

Also, Teresa, I didn't hear what anyone said to your daughter. I would never say any of that, but she was all fired up after the meeting on TV. That can't help. A lot of people talked about her today. You can't make yourself a target on TV and then expect people not to say anything.

We don't need your vote Teresa. I think we are on the way to swaying some of the others. We don't need Pat Godwin either. He is not a voting member of the board. It's just like last time. I remember it well. I think you even wore that purple dress, or one just like it. What a time warp. It's gonna get stretched out and a vote will come. If we continue with the energy we have then who knows. I hope things are settled soon.

After EDF speaks of course. That's all part of the script... rolleyes.gif

Ed, if we are so spoiled, then what do you call all of the other districts who pay better salaries and better benefits? Are they WORSE? We are at the bottom. Your logical, or illogic is off base. Don't worry, if you speak again, you'll get the same response. Trust me Ed, if you knew me, you wouldn't be saying these things...

So zany...

Please stop making this personal with me or my daughter. My daughter was rightly disgusted by the behavior of people who call themselves professionals. Teachers climbing bookshelves in the school library, standing on tables and standing on expensive library equipment is not professional. It doesn't model good behavior for any students. Ignoring the fire marshall who was simply looking out for your safety and the safety of the children parents chose to bring into the room is not professional and does not garner anyone's respect. Students, including my daughter, don't have a say in negotations. She wasn't taking sides, but was just so appalled that she felt she had to speak out -- yeah for her. Luckily none of her own teachers were those who were Teachers Gone Wild last night. I'm glad you weren't one of those who was making comments at a student TM, but your peers were, and that is reprehensible.

P.S. Why are you focusing so much on my personal appearance, what my face looks like, what clothing I was wearing? This wasn't the Oscars. It sounds like bullying me for the way I look. Our district has a strict bullying policy!

I went with one of my kids to see what the fuss was about. The room was quite full, but I was surprised that people thought they could climb the furniture to see. I was also surprised that people were walking behind the board making comments while the speakers went up front. I wasn't surprised to see the fire marshall, but he couldn't even get anyone to listen to him. He asked everybody to exit until they figured out what to do and the teachers actually refused. He had to call the Folsom police. It was really ironic to see people holding signs demanding respect when they were so disrespectful themselves. I want my teachers to be compensated. I don't want to see them publicly embarrassing themselves, the district, and their profession. Sorry to those of you who behaved. There were enough bad apples to spoil the bunch last night.

I was going to call it? I have nothing, repeat nothing, to do with last night's meeting.

I don't think you're my child's teacher. For one, she hasn't worn a green shirt a single time. Two, she's much nicer, more professional and more level-headed than you have been here (though I understand that you could be a lot different in person and in the classroom). Three, self-professed, she's not very internet-saavy.

I have to say, the schools were a big part of Folsom's attraction. I say "were" because I'm totally turned off now.

TM70, in my short few months as a public-school student's parent, I have spent a ton of time and effort helping NSE in the classroom and outside of the classroom. Understanding that teachers are overwhelmed, I was more than happy to help contribute and affect positive-change. But when I look back, my moves have been second-guessed because of "protocol" and politics. Then I'm told here that basically my viewpoint isn't welcomed, but instead discounted and attacked just because I'm not a teacher. Well, guess what? You want me out of the way? You don't care about my perspective? Then, fine, I'll get out of the way. But next time I'm asked to help out, don't be surprised if you find me less than receptive.

I can't say I'm pulling for the district, but I honestly don't give a rat's arse about the teachers at this point.

Your daughter was well spoken and had a valid point. I was appalled by the way some of my collegues were acting. Everyone should have left when asked by the fire department. It set a poor example for the kids. Emotions are running way too high.

This is exactly why TM70 is here - she is baiting you. She wants a riot and then will cry we didn't know that would happen. Ohhh poor me!

She is now posting her junk on the other board too. She seems to have a lot of time for destruction on her hands.
