Driving back from downtown this week stopped at Squeeze Inn since it was after the lunchtime crowd. The bet the vendors important to this place are the ones supplying cheese, burger meat and paper napkins! Good stuff.

Borrowing Davburr’s format, my review:

The Squeeze Inn Burger aka a “Squeeze with Cheese”.

Out of a notional 5-step scale of "Bad, Okay, Good, Very Good, Excellent"

Meat: Very Good. 1\3 lb burger. It’s not “gourmet” like Folsom Bistro or Bidwell Street Bistro (thick, seasoned) but it is a good tasting burger similar to Carl’s $6, Red Robin.

Cooked: Very good (I don't think there was a choice, because when they cover the burger and melt the smothering of cheese it will end up medium but it was juicy (hence reason for plenty of napkins) and very good).

Bread: Very Good. Fresh, big white bun on par to Red Robin.

Toppings: Excellent. Included lettuce, onions, tomato, julienne dill pickle, mayo, mustard, catsup and oh yeah…a TON of cheese which gets some grill time (love grilled cheese) and forms a skirt around the burger.

Fries: Excellent. Crisp on outside, tender inside. If you like In-n-Out fries, you will love these.

Pickle: Yep. Two julienne slices.

Tea: Diet Coke this time, but they have raspberry and sun tea. Sun tea was very good during last visit past spring.

Service: Very Good. Only two customers when I went in at 2pm (lunch crowd is wall to wall busy) but crowded or quiet, counter service (if you get a seat!) is very good, prompt, friendly, top off drinks, following up if all is good.

Ambiance: Excellent or Fair. It is called the Squeeze Inn for a reason so squeeze in, find a seat (unlikely between 11-1), order and enjoy. Excellent is because it’s one of those “only here” type of things especially if you get a seat at the counter and like looking at local pictures, posters etc that are fun. Fair is when it is packed and all you can do is wait in line, squeezing your way from door to counter, order, then go outside to wait for your order because there is no place to wait around inside during lunch rush. There are bench tables on the patio out back but they also filled up unless cold or foggy weather.

Misc: Have to mention parking or lack thereof. While the Squeeze Inn in Galt is larger and has good parking, the original location is a challenge. Don’t even think about parking at the businesses nearby because they have a tow service on speed dial. There are only 3 or 4 slots in front of S.I. and half a dozen in back but it is a squeeze (sorry but word fits).

I'm still in, we had our company Xmas luncheon yesterday, followed by a party last night.

My boss, the President, and several others aren't in today, I wonder why biggrin.gif

An hour & 15 to go and I'm outta here headed to Tahoe Joe's.
I would rather be Backpacking

Amazingly we managed without Dave or Mylo.

And we got pickles!

Yes we got spears, I would have preferred sliced dills to put on my burger.

Sticking with my previous voting format,

I found the Tahoe Joe's burger very tasty.

Patty, still juicy, not dry, but overcooked for a medium, gets an 8
Cheese, the Jack was very good, I give them a 9.
I ordered the mushroom burger, quite often restaurants put too many mushrooms making the burger fall apart while trying to eat it. This burger had the perfect amount of mushrooms, a mushroom in every bite, but held in place by melted cheese.10
Bun, regular type bun, held up very well, I'll give the bun a 10.
No sauce, I used kethcup that came with fries, I'll give it an 8. We were asked if we needed anything else and I'm sure I could have had mustard or steak sauce or thousand island if I had asked. I probably should have.

I guess that averages out to an 9.0 for me.
I would rather be Backpacking

I can't improve on Bill's review posting other than to add the obligatory picture of a really good burger...correction, bacon-cheddar cheeseburger. I liked BSB burger best but TJ's burger is securely my 2nd pick followed by Red Robin, Balcony Bistro. It was ~$12.50 for burger & iced tea.
