I fully support Forumreaders removal of them from my post and I'm glad to see that I wasn't alone in objecting to them!

Doesn't that settle it?
I'd have no problem taking my kids to Sutter street with that shop there. They'll probably be more embarrassed by the Victoria's Secret commercials on TV.

I hope so, but my wife won't wear a corset, and they can't sell any dirty stuff!

That's ok Steve, we were at several stores in Folsom today and there's plenty of places where you can get all you need to spice things up!
P.S. I'd like to see a ban on cucumbers - don't want anyone cheating...

I'm still waiting for the answer to this one from those of you that oppose the Ms. Teaz store? Arden Fair and Sunrise malls have both a Victoria Secrets and Fredericks. The Galleria in Roseville and K Street Mall have a Victoria Secrets. I looked up some family oriented cities in the Bay Area and found Victoria Secrets in The Stanford Mall, Valco Mall, and Valley Fair Mall.
I guess your children never pass those stores in the mall? I don't think the Ms. Teaz store is going to be much different, nor a threat to other sex/porn establishments coming into town. With 2 young children, I understand the concerns of the family's in town. My son will probably ask me about those stores, and I'll say they sell fancy underwear for Mommy just like his Spiderman underwear...
And in case you are wondering - No I haven't been to all the stores listed above -just looked up the store listings on their Web Sites. My wife would say that I kinda squirm when going into those stores. But I have found that the perfume and lotions sold in Victoria Secrets are good gifts for my wife....

I addressed this issue early in this discussion, and was jumped on because of my answer. But, hey, I'll live dangerously and restate my thoughts.
Like you billsfan, I also "kinda squirm" when going past these shops in malls, expecially if I am shopping with my two boys. I usually scope out these stores and try to casually cross to the other side of the mall corridor to avoid passing directly in front of their windows.
Eventhough there exist stores with less than desirable/objectionable items in malls, other cities or even other streets in Folsom, it does not mean that we must be happy about inviting an adult-oriented lingerie shop to Sutter St.

Victoria's Secret doesn't make me squirm. My daughters used to insist no going in there when they were small, to try all of the lotions. Now, they don't take me in there because they are now aware of sexuality and my age, and the thought of their dad liking women (even if it's only their mom) grosses them out, so they're the ones who squirm.
Coincidentally perhaps, I've recently discovered that corsets are popular with teens. They sell them at teen shops such as Hot Topic, in the mall.

Did anyone watch the city council presentation of Palladio? Are they planning to have any lingerie tenants? Just curious.

I'm glad to hear I have company. We only go to malls about once or twice a year. There is something about them that makes me feel a little ill. (More than squirmming about Fredrick's or Victoria's Secret.) Maybe it's the excessive consumption and the loitering or wasting of time within a stuffy, dark enclosed environment.
Going to Sutter St. or the outlets so far has been a more pleasant experience. I hope it remains that way. Likewise, I hope the Palladio will be Fredrick's-free.

Billsfan, this has never been about the lingerie. If you think the purpose of Ms. Teaz's backroom was to sell lingerie, you better go back and read all 36 pages of this post... and perhaps pay a visit to the "model" for their store (self-described), Spartacus...
I wasn't going to post anymore here because I have stated my views at length already... but I do get annoyed when people try to misrepresent this discussion as prudishness about lingerie. No one has ever objected to a nice lingerie shop on Sutter St.
But remember what Mr. Dufour said when asked why his shop couldn't be JUST a lingerie shop like Victoria's Secret: "Lingerie is nice, but Sex sells!"

Plainly, the owner's original idea was that the lingerie shop was a front for some hard core sex gear. (After all, "sex sells!") Now he has been forced to tone down his plans due to the outcry.
When you walk by the shop and you DON'T see whips, chains, and schoolgirl outfits for pedophiles in the window, you can say a silent thank you to the City Council and to lovefolsom, cybertrano, forumreader, pamperedchef, tessieca, bordercollie, and others who have made clear that sleazy sex shops are not welcome on Sutter St.

Does it really because I would much rather go to a lingerie shop than one that sells all that other stuff too. I think some people will be turned off by it.
