for those interested in some plinking practice, we'll meet somewhere tbd and head out around 9ish on Tues Dec 30th to the Sacramento shooting center (or we can all just meet out there), we'll shoot for a few hours, then head back to town around noon and go to BJ's for burgers or whatever and meet who ever's interested in doing lunch
plans are open so any suggestions are a-ok

Handguns or rifles?
Your choice what you bring.
I always limit myself to 3 weapons, as I don't want to have to clean more than 3 when I get back home.

Gas might be cheap right now, but I still see no point in all of us driving to elk grove.
If the burger tasting is at BJ's, then I suggest maybe we meet at BJ's in the AM, select one or two cars (depending on how many of us are going) to drive down to Elk Grove.

I was thinking of the Sacramento Shooting Center - a bit closer then Elk Grove and its outdoors and has several different types of ranges
Here's the info on the place if you've never been

That's a good idea though to meet at BJ's and carpool there

Hey dav---I wanna find a membership to a range that I can take my boy to when he turns 12.
Small rifle.
But I want him to take as many safety classes as possible.
Not hunter classes.
So, question: what classes are recommended for boys (non hunter) and what to expect?

Ione it is then. I've got a couple of other friends/shooting buddies interested in going as well. don't know if they will join us for lunch afterwards or not. But anyway, are we in agreement 9 AM at BJ's?
What's the headcount? I count 3 so far

Any others? I know there were quite a few posts on the handgun advice topic. Has CS had a chance to warm up his new barrel? Anyone interested, reply or PM, so we know to expect you.

I really wish we had a happy shooter emoticon

Hi SM, the sacto shooting center is probably your best bet to take the boy to learn how to shoot. They have a really good staff there and they also have NRA instructors on hand to help folks out - really its a bunch of old guys who are serious enthusiasts and they love helping folks out and teaching proper gun use and handling
The last time I took my wife and daughter and sister in law, one of the instructors let them shoot his custom 22 and they had a blast and learned a lot about gun control and proper targeting
Its a nice drive out in the country to get there, you should take him some time to check it out.

I'll be bringing my son and daughter and a few neighbors have said they'd like to join us (maybe 2)
The plan is to meet at BJ's at 9am and leave from there to the range
The direction to the range are:
White Rock to Scott Road (turns into Stonehouse near Rancho Murrietta) to
Jackson Rd (16) - LEFT to
Ione Rd - RIGHT to
Meiss Rd - RIGHT to
the range will be on the right in about 1/2 mile, follow the signs to the main range
we'll shoot for 2-3 hours then return to BJ's for lunch
Range Info:
They sell ammo and targets and have safety glasses, ear protection and rifles bags available to use - they do not rent any guns there. They also sell some snacks but I recommend we bring our own - and be sure to bring some water to drink

Sorry, I didn't see your post until we got back.

That and the rangemaster gets really upset if there is blood on the firing line.
