Let's hear the burger reviews!

I had the California Burger which consisted of a half-pound patty served on sourdough bread, topped with avocado, roasted green chilies, pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayonnaise and ranch dressing.

The choice was wedge cut or thin fries, I had the thin fries and they were very good

Out of a notional 5-step scale of "Bad, Okay, Good, Very Good, Excellent"

Meat: Very Good (It was really really good and had excellent flavor)

Cooked: Excellent, I asked for it medium and it came cooked absolutely to perfection, I was impressed

Bread: Beyond Excellent - the bread was Outstanding, it was a nice soft sourdough bread that tasted perfect with the sandwich, it was actually one of the best breads on a burger I've had during this entire burger tasting thang...

Toppings: Excellent, the toppings on this California burger were fantastic and tasted perfect together. The toppings were: avocado, roasted green chilies, pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayonnaise and ranch dressing.

Fries: Very good, they gave you a choice of two fries (noted above), I liked the thin fries very much, they were cooked just right

Pickle: n/a

Tea: n/a

Service: Very Good

Ambiance: Very Good, I like the ambiance at BJ's, although it can get crowded and noisy at times

my personal order of favorites so far... (keep in mind) it's kind of weird to place a gourmet burger place with classic burger places but here's my take...

folsom bistro
bidwell street bistro
BJ's restaurant
red robbin
big dip
karens bakery
carl's jr
this is from an old list, not sure where were are actually at today with this..

Sticking with my previous voting format,

I found the BJ's burger extremely tasty.
I ordered the patty melt version

Patty,cooked to perfection, gets a 10
Cheese, Swiss & Cheddar was very good, I give them a 10.
Bun, description was sourdough, it actually was two slices of bread, but it held up very well, I'll give the bun a 10. (even though it technically wasn't a bun, it met my bun requirements, light & airy, not heavy, but strong enough to stay together while eating the burger.)
Secret Sauce, other burgers said they came with 1000 island, this one said special sauce, but i think it was still the 1000 island, very tasty, another 10.

I guess that averages out to a perfect 10.0 for me.

And I will have to say, for my taste preferences, I really think this is the best burger I've had during my taste testing.

I've previously only rated the burger, but I ordered the wedge cut fries which were also seasoned. They were very tasty as well.
I would rather be Backpacking

me too - I always order mine medium rare - I can't stand over cooked burgers, it makes them taste like cardboard

The burger at Ettores is very tasty. Too bad the Folsom location closed so you'll have to visit their Fair Oaks location.

Neither did I.

It was fantastic! Very flavorful meat (5), cooked to perfection (5), on a nice focaccia-style bun (4) with simple condiments (4) and great dressing.

Sadly, no fries, but the side salad that came with it was quite respectable.

They also had a nice Belgian White on tap (seasonal) that was rather tasty.

Just when it seemed the guys had exhausted the reviews (hence consideration for Purple Place and Burger Hut in EDH), there are more and in places you don't think "burger"...and the reports are they are pretty good.

Must update Burger Tasting agenda or would it be a roadmap? Eh, sounds good.

We need another tasting next week and propose Tahoe Joes because mylo and davburr didnt attend (but Carnivore, DarthLefty, Bill Z and I think Stangage were there).

Oh and this isnt to replace Conf Rm M that Bill Z has scheduled Friday. That is almost a mandatory all hands on deck meeting to kick start a 3 day holiday weekend!

So fellow burger tasters (those that have attended or anyone who wants to join), what day works for burger tasting?

OK, I wasn't in Folsom, but I just had the "Big Carl" from the Placerville Carl's Jr.

It was pretty good as fast food burgers go, bigger and meatier than the competition Big Mac and cheaper as well.

Although I do have one complaint about the one I received. I hate it when places that don't use shreaded lettuce give you chunks of lettuce that have the thick curled section that's near the base of the head of lettuce. It lumps up bigtime, causing the bun to tear and the meat to slip out of the bun. If you want to use whole leaf lettuce, at least chop off the part that is starting to resemble celery stalks.

I do like the way Carl's Jr response to McDonald's coming out with the "Black Angus" burgers to compete with the "Six-Dollar" burgers was to come out with the "Big Carl".

Let the BURGER WARS begin!!!!
