Palladio Mall Pt 2

I recently called Crate and Barrel and asked them about expansion in Sacramento and the comment from them was that they only put one store in per region.....honestly...without a Macy's or Nordstroms I think Elliott is doing the City of Folsom and the surrounding areas; El Dorado Hills, Placerville, Cameron Park, who would use this mall/stores a great disservice. I feel this is a selfish move on their part as they don't live here. I am also tired of driving the 16-18 miles to Roseville.
I have been waiting for this mall like all of you and the results of this post is just depressing for us all.
Eric, I see that you have some contact with the powers that be...please tell them of our responses and feelings...I know the City of Folsom is not easy to deal with...but why not at least one major department store.....how about a Bloomingdales? Something?
By the way, All, this is somewhat similar to the neighborhood feel of Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga...So Cal.

Bottom line. Pavilions is nothing special. Palladio had the potential to be a true destination retail center, but it sounds like HC Elliott is going for something truly mediocre. They very well are in position to attract something unique to our area, something like Dean & Delucca, a Dillard's Dept. Store, etc. But as Eric mentioned, it looks like they are not going to attract anything "unique" to our metro area.

I will be sure to pass on your comments. I do want to point out that the latest site plan that I have does show a building for a "future" department store. From what I am hearing here, that is no longer planned. I don't know which one is true. Knowing the retail world a lot myself, I doubt another Nordstrom would come. Two stores is enough for the Sacramento region as they require an incredibly large wealthy population. My bet would be that they will expand their Roseville store at a future date, not in this expansion. Also, on Crate and Barrel. As part of the current Galleria expansion, the current Crate and Barrel will be moved to an entirely new area within the mall. I don't have any specifics regarding it so don't ask. I do understand that 1 location per region is a good way to grow, especially for a specialty retailer like them. They only fit a certain niche in furniture. Lastly, don't bash the developers for building a mediocre center. They are in no way trying to harm Folsom. If the demand isn't there, they can't do anything about. They can't just bring in a retailer and that's it. It is a long process and its all up to the retailer. Roseville already has a huge retail base and with the Galleria and Fountains, it will be hard to bring in those type of retailers to Folsom as Roseville already has pretty much every type of retailer out there right now. I hope this helps a lot of you understand the situation.
Also, the Gourmet Grocer is a full size grocer (55,000-60,000 sq. ft). David Berkley would probably be under 10,000. So they might come, but expect a larger store to be put in here. (Hint: they have already signed the grocer)

Roseville ranks 9th in the entire state for number of retail sales dollars. That is saying a lot. With a population of just about 100,000 it shows that the area is a draw for the whole region... not just the city of Roseville. They are way ahead when it comes to retail... and its because they started early on.

If we guess... will you tell us? Kidding... we know... you are sworn to secrecy!

I think the "mall" may turn out nice enough, but will still be a disappointment from the grand plans of years ago.
Even if it was like Pavillions on Fair Oaks Blvd, that would be nice, but it doesn't sound like it will be as ritzy as Pavillons.
Even if they were to reduce the number of retailers and instead got a really nice concentration of restaurants and entertainment, (maybe some bars of a higher class than Sutter Street or even Sacramento) and a state of the art cinema, that would be something. It could be the place to eat lunch and dinner during the day and go out at night instead of the place to buy pants. A large cluster of really good restarants could draw people in from many miles away.

Yes it would; however, it would have to be a pretty incredible selection rival Roseville's never ending list of chains. It would need very high profile restaurants and all of the chains have or are going to flock to ROseville. Roseville is already getting a Cheesecake Factory.
And on the subject about the keeping it a secret, the email that I received from GGP has a digital signature on and says the following on it: "Notice: This e-mail including attachments) is covered by the

So that is why I can't say anything. I will tell you that the movie theatre company isn't very well known as it is not a huge chain.

I must be missing something. Why does every shopping area need to have the same chains?
Do we really need another GAP, Sunglass Hut, Annie's Pretzels, Victoria's Secret, etc?

Canned Food Outlet??????!!!!
What would they possibly sell? Dented canned food? Canned food past the date codes? Canned food that's been recalled? Canned food that not many people bought when they were in non-outlet retail locations???
That's just WEIRD. Ew.
What the heck? Canned Food Outlet??????????? What is that? So disappointing. Elliott may get an earful from me. If this is the true lineup for Palladio, I don't think I'll ever shop there.
While scrounging for dinner in our cupboard tonight, lookee what we came across (no lie)... I even had to wipe dust away to see the actual date...
(PS - I just moved from an area right outside of Rancho...guess that explains it!)

Hey, look on the bright side... if it does suck and nobody goes there, then at least we don't have to deal with awful traffic congestion like they get over at the Galleria.
The Galleria is actually spending millions on fixing traffic. They will be spending a million dollars on their quadrant of the Hwy 65/Galleria Blvd Interchange as well as adding an addition ingress/egress location and an egress only location. All existing entrances will be reconfigured with more attention to traffic leaving the mall as that is what is backing up into the parking lot and creating a mess. Roundabouts will be installed and will be configured with meters to help out during the worst traffic times.
Another note, the 2 parking garages going at the Galleria will be configured with smart parking technology. There will be electronic readerboards at the entrances that will let the entering vehicle know how many parking spaces are available on each level. Sensors are placed in each parking space and detect when there is a car occupying the space or not. Westfield, the owners, have publically admitted that there are serious traffic problems but note that they were not the original owners/developers of the mall, so they had no control over how anything was designed.

Like I said though in one of my other posts, I'll believe there will be a mall in Folsom when they break ground. This has been talked about since 1993 with a positive ground breaking date of Sept. 1997..then again in 1999, nothing ever happened. Hopefully someday there will actually be a mall in Folsom!

Hey, at least we can look on the bright side. We're getting a Super Walmart. That's sure to bring in higher end retailers.
Let's see, Super Walmart, Regular Walmart, and Sam's Club. Who has the audacity to complain with a great selection like this?
