Yes, you can put a kayak in, and, yes, I saw someone pull out some pretty big fish last summer.

the pond is part of the run off system in folsom. i am willing to bet that that water is contaminated with pesticides, car wash soap, fertilizer residue and the usual dog poo since may people walk their dogs there.

don't know if one would eat fish from that pond. kinda doesn't sound like a good idea.

the water is wading depth. boats are optional although many people use them, unpowered of course (except mylo's ski boat).

That's what you guys are b!tching about?

A half sheet of plywood sticking up out of the water which is part of a Girl Scouts project for a few turtles? Which is going to last how long? A few months? A real inconvenience you're going through.

Find a new argument.

don't see the bitching but a conversation.

undetermined how long the project will last. that would be nice to know.

the project in its current state appears unusable by turtles. i have yet to see any sunbathing.

The girl scout leader did say it's supposed to submerge. But, really, even in it's current state and knowing that it's a girl scout project, IMHO it's not a big deal. At all.

There's a pond over by us, too, that apparently has some decent sized fish. I wouldn't eat 'em, though. Definitely would be catch and release.

That reminds me of the stories we used to tell about why "they" really closed the dam when the spillgates broke. My husband used to tell the kids that it was the only way the mother ship could land on the water to retrieve the space aliens that were here gathering information. That the closure was really a ruse to keep the public away and the "real" reason was so the aliens had time to repair their spacecraft. We were headed to church one Sunday morning crossing the dam and my husband started in on his little tale and one of my son's friends was in the car. At first he thought we all snapped our caps but then caught on and started to embellish his own version...it turned out to be a fun morning drive.

i read somewhere that the Girl Scouts are coming to your pond next to place a turtle cabana there to shade the turtles from the oppressive summer sun. i hope theu install those new misters to help cool the air inside the cabana. it can get really hot in the summer in Folsom.

Would you have them build one in my backyard first?

BFD!

CW's pond is off Natoma Station Drive. We'd love to have a turtle cabana there. I think Agent 007 should be a girl scout leader. Been there, done that, and it's not easy to come up with good ideas that promote nature and preservation of our environment.
