Agreed.
For 7 or 8 bucks for a Buffet Lunch or $13 bucks for a Buffet Dinner, what do ya expect?
"You Get What You Pay for"
At Manderes, I didn't get what I paid for. I recalled I paid about $20 bucks for Lunch for a Bulgogi Hoagie and an order of Onion Rings. The bread I had was OLD bread and the service was quite POOR.

Bon Appétit!

Dinner buffet is more like $18 with a soda, tax and tip. You can stuff yourself with better food elsewhere for the same or less money.
The $1 ice cream cones and sundaes at McDonalds are smoother and tastier than what came out of the machine at this buffet. I'm not joking.

I paid a total of $13.99 for my Buffet Dinner ($12.99 for the food and $1.00 for CA sales tax).
I had Clams, Crab, Mussels, Oysters, Shrimp. Heck I even had Sautéed Spicy Frog Legs and Lychee. And many more items...
It was quite a TREAT yesterday!

I had lunch there today, I got there at 11:00 a.m. and the workers were starting to eat ? I will admit that it was well , on a scale of 1 to 10 a solid 6. I found the food to be quite fresh, but needed to be served hotter. There is a good variety of food and does taste fresh. As far as the overall hygiene and cleanleness I would rate it quite high. I am not a sushi type, but did look at the offerings in that catagory and I would say that some of the sushi looked almost too pretty to eat.! I will go back in the future. By the way, I weigh a modest 220lbs. and found myself to be a real lightweight of many of the patrons of the restaurant today... hehe.... give it a try...

Plenty of heavyweight patrons at most buffet places such as Chang Mongolian Grill and some of other places in Folsom: Gold Miner Café, Ernies of Lake Tahoe, IHOP, Sutter Street Grill...

In general, at Chinese Restaurants, workers usually eat before starting time (buffet) or about 2:30pm-3:30pm (a la carte). One Meal per Day.

Bon Appétit!

Finally sampled this China Buffet place. Good food. Servers not attentive to detail - didn't get water refills, the 'used' plates did not get taken away soon enough...there was one employee who did not know a word of English but was walking around the food area...

Overall a B+

Sounds promising and not the typical lower grade meat or greasy dishes in many buffets.

How does it compare to VIP China Buffet in Cameron Park or Rancho Cordova?

One word sums up my feelings on this place....blech. Won't EVER go back.
We all dream of a world of sunshine and rainbows and peace. The problem is some people think this would be a great place to live, while others think it would be a great place to pillage.

Ate there last evening. Decent food, somewhat expensive for what you get. Not really a place to bring the kids to.......doubt we'll make it a regular place. Oh well.....

Hmmmmmmm, been a while since I have last eaten there. I would say it is pretty similar to most, not all, oriental buffets in the surrounding area. I mean, can you really make any oriental buffet really stand out that much? I guess you can with the price. China Buffet seems rather high. I doubt it will survive after the newness wears off. Sizzler had packed nights also and they went belly up.

That place is going to fold sooner then expected. Buffet's suck and usually have poor quality cheap food... worse part is this place isnt' even a bargain for the money

you can get better food and better service at Manderes....for a better price

Looked like the lunch crowd was bumpin' last Fri. Mostly Asians. I saw gaggles of them parking across the street to walk over and eat China Buffet. Cmon Dav, give it a chance.

parking problems already? geeze.... maybe they were the illegal asian workers that spicy says works there for free. tongue.gif

seriously though, I personally can't stand buffets, its old left over food that sits out under a heat lamp all day - blech! and for the prices that place is charging I'd rather go out to a better Asian restaurant such as T2 Yan where I can get high quality freshly made food and great service at a very good price.

Plus several friends of mine have tried China Buffet and they all said the same thing... "never again".... so far thats enough news about the place to keep me away
