Subject: Name The Bridge Contest
From 1 April through 22 April you can submit names for the new bridge. You can email your suggestions to the following email address.
namethebridgecontest@folsom.ca.us
You can also mail your suggestions in at the following address.
Name The Bridge Contest
City Hall
50 Natoma St.
Folsom, CA 95630
More information will be forthcoming in the city newsletters and in the papers.
I believe there will also be forms that can be picked up and turned in.
After all the names have been received, I believe that the city council and maybe others will select the name for the bridge from suggestions turned in.
If more than one person submits the same name, one person will be selected to go to the opening of the new bridge. A plaque will also be put on/near the bridge as to who submitted the name. (You would think that the first person to submit the name would be the person to get that recognition)??
Like I said there will be a lot more coming out on this.
This is just a heads up.

Do we have to wait until April Fools Day to submit names?
If so, I suggest we all flood it on April Fools Day with
The Dam Bridge
I've got about 6 email addresses I use that I can send suggestions from.

Name that bridge
Folsom seeks public input in naming new bridge over American River
The bridge being built over the American River below Folsom Dam soon may have a name, putting it on equal footing with Folsom's Rainbow Bridge and Lake Natoma Crossing.
Rich Lorenz, city public works director, unveiled plans Tuesday night to involve the community in the process. In a presentation to the City Council, he recommended a contest allowing the public to propose names.
"The (bridge) project now is well over half-completed," Lorenz said, explaining that a name must be chosen soon so the city can order signs.
Public submissions will be accepted in April and presented to the council for selection in May, he said.
The person or people who suggest the winning name will be recognized, Lorenz said.
He said the city will set up a Web site for entries, which also may be mailed to Name the Bridge Contest, Folsom City Hall, 50 Natoma St., Folsom, CA 95630.
More than 100 suggestions were received in 1999, when the city solicited names for the span across Lake Natoma. The result, Lake Natoma Crossing, was a hybrid of "Lake Natoma Bridge" and "Natoma Crossing."
The new bridge and roadway, replacing Folsom Dam Road, is scheduled to open early next year. It will link East Natoma Street with Folsom-Auburn Road.
The city is paying a big chunk of the construction of the $120 million road and river crossing.
