Circuit City sucks - it'd be a waste to put one here, we don't need 'em because we already have Best Buy and Costco that offer better products, prices and service the CC ever will

I am shocked to see such biasness from a forum moderator. You dont want another retailer who can meet or even exceed your expectations from the other retailers? That seems to be a very ignorant statement. Better products? Ive been to both stores and they have roughly the same things and roughly the same prices. As far as service, you have just been one of the few lucky members that have gone into bestbuy and had a great experience. At The City the service is great! There is a greater to great you when you walk in which even points you in the right direction so you dont have to waste your time! You dont even need to search for associates because at The City they come to you! Another interesting fact is that at Best Buy they refer to you as a "customer", when The City will refer to you as a "guest".The City far surpasses BB and I respectfully disagree with every one of your fallacy driven statements.

the biggest competition all these stores have in common, is the internet. I get most of my gear online or at Costco

Well now you dont need to get it all only. CC has the new One Price Promise. Whatever you find on the website will match the price in store! I assure you the service and prices are great! Maybe your just a BB fan or had a bad experience at CC. Whatever the reason, I think you should give The City one more chance. Who knows what could happen?

I've gotten some good deals at CC and Best Buy via online (only) sales and discounts that they offer, and then use in-store pickup. Those websites essentially have to compete with other online retailers, and once in awhile they offer the same price, but without the cost of shipping, and you still get immediate store pickup. Definitely better than Costco sometimes.

CC has the new One Price Promise where all the prices online match the ones in store!

QUOTE(tessieca @ Apr 16 2008, 04:14 PM) View Post
Doesn't CC have a policy to meet or beat the best price on the same thing? They used to allow you to bring in an ad for same item at lower price and they'd promise to match or beat it.

Yes CC does! The match and even garentee that no one will beat their price!

Was in the Circuit City store in CH...it was so darn empty - maybe they are winding down in preparation for the one in Folsom???? Anybody heard anything?

CH will be having a few changes, but all for the better. You will notice more soon. It is no mystery that CC has been suffering lately.

QUOTE(Michael Hughes @ Oct 24 2008, 06:45 AM) View Post
The new store looks like crap.

Service was horrible.

I dislike Best Buy because their prices are horrible.

I'll stick with Fry's or online.

The only thing Best Buy or Circuit City have ever been good for were getting free stuff when their products crapped out and I had the extended warranties and got replacements.

I dissagree. The City is a great looking store full of happy people smile.gif

A little fun fact: Fry's doesnt even match their onlne store prices! Where CC only has one low price for everyone to enjoy!

Only thing I don't like about fry's is that its really easy to accidently bring home a refurb. They have ALOT of them...

Circuit City is always good for tv sales on black friday... thousands of dollars off.

Best buy should rethink their name. Except for somehow I managed to walk out of their with the brand new metallica album for $4.99 smile.gif

One might say that this comming black friday could be one of the best and even picture perfect at CC wink.gif

QUOTE(nlove4ever @ Oct 27 2008, 12:19 PM) View Post
Agree, I went there because Best Buy was out of something I wanted. It was completely dead except the workers. I couldnt find what I was looking for, and no one offered to help. There were tons of them standing around. I had to ask someone who had to ask someone who had to ask someone to help me. angry.gif I will never go in there again, unless of course they shut down and liquidate everything. lmaosmiley.gif

I am sorry you had a bad experience and I hope you go to The City again. Sometimes The City is not always jam packed with people, but I find that it better ables the associates to help the guests more than they could before.

To shed a little more light to your experience...What could have happened was that you by accident asked a customer service associate or a member of the merchandising team, which arent as qualified as the sales associates on certian matters. That is why sometimes people ask for help. And some of the sales associates ask for confirmation so they can garentee you a perfect solution. May I ask if the associates were able to find you a perfect solution?

QUOTE(webuser @ Oct 29 2008, 05:35 PM) View Post
I'm quite sure they are going to shut down eventually.
They often have more staff than customers. The location is poor. The selection is poor. The economy is bad and they are financially weak.

Circuit City is not on most people's minds as a place to shop as it may have been 5 years ago before Best Buy got popular. Most people don't even know they were renamed "The City."
There is no way they can make money at that location. Maybe the whole chain will shut down, but even if not, the Folsom location will be gone in a matter of time.

The City is in Folsom to stay! Circuit City was NOT renamed to "The City". The City is a elite branch off of Circuit City that has a completely different way of operation than the Circuit City stores.

The location in Folsom is actually doing great! Sales are great, and many people have left The City very happy and satisfied. So with all do respect, you are wrong in all of your assertions.

QUOTE(eVader @ Oct 29 2008, 07:19 PM) View Post
In order for retailers to see the black on Black Friday, they are going to have to step up their sales, promos and giveaways especially if they want to move $2000 HDTVs this year.

This could be the biggest make or break BF ever -- some will make it and some will close up which will be sad to see.

This Black Friday is going to be picture perfect!

QUOTE(ChipShot @ Nov 3 2008, 09:17 AM) View Post
I can almost guarantee the Folsom store will close within a year or so.

Im sorry you feel that way but I disagree. CC only hit a bump in the road and is going to rise to the top.

P.S. To whoever goes into They City just to buy games then think about getting the Gamers Club Card! An excellent buy! You save instantly if you buy games or accessories! CC even has packaged deals with every new release game if you purchase it within the same week it comes out! Tell BB to beat that!

I vote we make ChipShot a mod, so he can be held to some unseen standard. Moderators here are just regulars who volunteer to keep the forum running, we're not preachers or parents. We're still allowed opinions. Mine, for example, is that all electronics retail is a waste. Then again, I just order online for half the price.

I accept.

My thinking was that John just recently shut-down a thread because it criticized local business.

Why the double-standard?? smile.gif

ps: I'd be an awesome Mod... wink.gif Or not...

No double standard. Sometimes businesses get offended by their public reviews and make legal threats. They would most likely lose in court, but again, this is a community forum, not an industry giant, so it's not worth the hassle and some threads do get removed. If Circuit City wants to send a legal threat letter, we can discuss that. I think that'd be a fun one to fight just for the press!

p.s. I think you'd make a bad mod. You have to remove your emotions and opinion from your moderation, and I just can't see you doing that. Maybe we should make you mod of the Orangevale section or something wink.gif

I've had crappy service more than once at CC, not when buying something, but if it don't work, they weren't very receptive to returns. Maybe it's wrong for me to blame all CC's for how the CH store operated, but guess what, that's my perogative. I have no intention of ever stepping foot inside another CC again.

What's that saying? "Screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice, shame on me"

That's what I'm talking about!!!
I would rather be Backpacking

"The City" refers to San Francisco...not Circuit City.

If the Folsom store is a The City elite store, I don't like it. I would prefer to go to a "real" store like the CC in CH or a Best Buy because the Folsom CC while maybe a little more upscale in decor, it is barely stocked with product (any product) and middle of the day is has always been a ghost town.

There is good news for CCCat. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Geez, John should send an invoice to Circuit City for all this advertising on the forum. tongue.gif
