I tried, but the manager/owner/whoever just ignored my presence.

This has the potential to be a weekly thread on MyFolsom.

Not exactly great advertising for Dudwerks.

Quick, someone get the urge to go try this place for yourself "because it can't be THAT bad" then come back and tell us of your adventure.

Please?

This (and related) thread has become sort of like rubbernecking a traffic accident hoping to see a DB - at least for me smile.gif

A good buddy of mine just stopped by and he and I have gone to many local restaurants, so I trust his opinion.

He went there and said the service royally sucked. He sat in the bar and asked the bartender to turn one of the tv's on - and she gave him serious attitude like he was asking her to hand over her money, said it took about 15 minutes to get a beer and about another 40 for the order of chicken wings. He said the wings were pretty decent but the beer was warm and tasted like a budweiser, said he won't be going back there again.

now with all these consistantly bad reviews about the place, I'm hesitant to go over there and drop 50 bucks on crappy food & beer when I can so easily go right over to Manderes where I already know I'll get great service and great food and beer

why waste the money?

I'm hoping, maybe - just maybe, they'll get it figured out over the next few weeks and get their act together, because the menus look good, now they just gotta work on the execution and train the staff on how to provide better customer service

We stopped by last week for a Marzen. No complaints other than the overcrowding at the bar. That's a good problem for a new owner to have.

Honestly I think we are all rushing to judgment. I've been there twice myself already and while they have a long way to go, my experience wasn't as bad as the others here. In any case, they have been open a very short time, so given Sudwerk's past reputation in Davis, and the high quality of their beer, I'm not giving up on them just yet. I know Restaurants are hard to start up and growing pains are par for the course. Let's see what happens over the next month or two. Once they have their official grand opening, then they'd better have their act together.

So they are open right now but not officially? What does that mean? They can suck because they aren't "officially" open? With all the choices around here to eat they should have their act together on day one, not after 2 months of practicing and pissing people off don't ya think? And isn't the owner some sort of experienced restaurant guy? He sure aint playing that part either.

You get once chance to make a good first impression. Doesn't have to be perfect but it sure better not be abysmal.

Folsom is drowning in mediocre restaurants. Why go out of the way for something less than mediocre? If I'm out that way, Scott's it is; not great but consistently mediocre or better (a little forgiving since seafood can be that way).

I also emailed them before reading that two of you also did...

Absolutely no reply at all though. To me, that's just a bit rude. Most owners really appreciate feedback so they can address it.

Let's all wonder what will be coming in after Sudwerk? huh.gif

If it is really that bad, I hope they go out of business soon. They must be running low on cash why they kind of only halfway remodeled the place and didn't even fully paint the exterior.
The unfinished painting looks worse than before.

It might take a bulldozer and wrecking ball, not paintbrushes to get a nice restaurant on that spot. Even a big chain restaurant sounds like an improvement.
Didn't another restaurant owner say they would have been interested in that spot, but didn't know it was available until it was too late?

We went recently - the service was slow but the food was really good (my burger was one of the best I've ever had). I liked the new look too. The views are the best in Folsom. We'll be back.

I called yesterday at about 5. I am on a headseat at work, and was busy doing loan stuff.

The young lady who answered confirmed they had happy hour. I asked how long it lasted and what it entailed. She said, um, hold on a minute.

So, I keep working, and suddenly realized that she never came back. I looked at the clock, and had been on hold for 8 minutes. I hung up and called back. The same girl answered. I told her what had happened and she said, "The bar should have picked up. Let me try again."

I hung up, and went to Zindfadel Grille, and I'm glad I did. Great appetizers, $3 drinks, live jazz, and the basketball game. All for under $40.
