Wasn't there a Ruth's in town that eventually left? I believe it was on E. Bidwell by the urgent care center......and there is a new Hawaiian place in the Safeway shopping center on Francisco in EDH. Pretty good food.

First, let me say that, as a policy and out of respect, I try to finish food presented to me whether it's at home, at a friends house or at a restaurant.

Sorry. I guess we each have our own tastes, but I have to violently disagree on this one. I went to the "Hawaiian" place once. Nothing remotely Hawaiian about it other than the name. The food was bad at best. I left more than half on my plate when I left. The only thing I finished was the canned Hawaiian fruit juice. I was going to ask for my money back but had pity on the owner as I don't think they'll survive at this rate. L&L's at least has some Hawaiian dishes, if not the ideal quality.

Well according to one Presidental candidate, he is going to take care of that issue by himself, because he said in a speech the otherday that we Americans shouldn't be able to eat all the food we want.

Don't we have enough???
CHEESECAKE FACTORY would be nice...

I'm not much for eating out - the food at home is always better. But I do have to travel for business, and Cheesecake Factory and PF Changs are 2 places I can always count on for being clean, having things I can eat (if slightly altered) and good quality food.

Second the Cheesecake Factory, not for the food but just the variety of cheesecakes. I like the Costco cheesecakes but variety would be nice.

But please, no Benihana. Good steak/prime rib place, yes. But Benihana is heavy on tourist and light on good food. Benihana and "Rocky" is a nice Harvard Business Review case study but, IMHO, has has little to offer from a culinary perspective. Novelty wore off 20 years ago.

But if you're ever in Taiwan or Japan, try a real teppanyaki house. Be prepared to pay well into 3 digits though.

Isn't In'n'Out coming soon?

Oh, it seems that there is a flame broiled burger place coming to the Safeway in EDH.... Hopefully it'll be good.

Drive thru buffett?!

How about a drive thru bar?!, I forget if it was Mississippi or Lousiana that doesn't have an opend contianer law, so you could order a beer with lunch at drive thrus and drink it while driving down the road. That's what we need here.
I would rather be Backpacking

Actually,

1. Folsom has plenty of restaurants, and

2. Folsom has plenty of restaurants that are poised to go out of business.
We don't need more stinkin restaurants...we just need some quality.

AMEN!!!!!!! I'd be happy with a good American or Italian place. I'm not a huge Asian (or is it oriental?) food fan. I do like Fat's and PF Chang's, but that's about it.

I would love, love, love to have Il Fornaio, or maybe Piatti. Other than those places, I would just like to have a cool, fun, nice place. Somewhere with consistently good food and service. Right now the only place we really love is Express Gourmet. They have always been excellent. Goodfellas is good for fast Italian.

I second the sports bar suggestion, too.

Second the Il Forniao. Or a Kuleto's. Wouldn't mind some Singaporean / Malaysian. Maybe like a Strait's Cafe or Banana Leaf. Prefer that over Thai in general and nice change of pace from Chinese.

I would guarantee a weekly visit to any authentic Japanese place, <reasonable> cost no object. Kaiseki a plus.

Anybody ever try Brazilian BBQ? Awesome stuff when done well. I think something like that would do very well in this area - change of pace from your typical steakhouse / BBQ house but similar enough to attract the same clientele.
