I was making a Will Ferrell SNL jab that would have been better if I could have figured out how to post the Spartan cheerleader picture.

Nice gams though.

Being a teen doesn't absolve them from being respectful. I loved being a teen, but we respected adults just the same. If he says they are treating community property without any regard for others' feelings, then that's wrong. I've seen the trash left there after the park was clean during the day, the cigarette butts, and the Red Bull cans. The kids that this park was meant for don't drink that junk.

Just keep calling the police, that will put a stop to it, eventually. The park closes one hour after dark. That's the law. If the kids don't like it, tough!

I have to agree with you Sally - I hate being one of 'those' neighbors - but when it's 10:45pm and the gas powered scooters are buzzing by at 20mph making a huge racket, I usually call the Folsom PD. I'm not sure what timeframe is considered 'late' for kids as my own are usually in by dark (or soon thereafter) - but usually 10pm is the courteous time to stop the racket.

I'm sure those kids wouldn't enjoy it if we all started vaccuming or mowing the lawn at 6am

Hey Toadster,

Believe it or not, there's been kids over there just before sun up! I'm tellin' ya, most of the time, they get there after midnight. Just the other night, Friday, they were there at 1:30am. I live near the creek on the south end and I leave my windows open. They have no idea how their voices carry when they're screaming and yelling profanity. That's a joke. Seriously, sometimes they talk in a nice indoor voice, but most of the time they're chasing each other and yelling like they're at the beach on a Sunday afternoon. Not smart or considerate. Most of my neighbors are aware of the issue, but I guess they are sounder sleepers than me. Young Tom

I talked to Officer Steve afterward. He said that those kids were setting off fireworks then trying to deal more of them to passing kids. Very happy with their quick response. We don't need any more fires. Though the high grass in the preserve has been cut, it's very dry as you know and would go up like that.

Just to give you an idea of how often this happens, early this morning 2:30am, kids were in the park waking me up over the house fan, which is pretty loud. I called the pd, went outside to get an idea of who was there. As a teacher, I recognized the unmistakable lexicon of middle-schoolers. I saw at least 3 girls and 3 boys. Can you imagine the degree of cluelessness on the part of their parents? Boardering on neglect. Tom out.

No I can not.
And I wouldn't say that's 'bordering on neglect'. It is neglect.
I know this is a huge pain for you, but I feel bad for those kids.

It's a funny, thing, but just as kids get older, they start to reveal to their parents, some of the things they used to do when they were younger.

I might allow my child to spend the night, but didn't know that the parents go to bed early, ad the kids are free to party, have friends over, or leave, all without the parents' knowledge.

My oldest told me she used to wander around with her friends, hang out in the park, etc., and that a couple of times, they met up with friends to watch the sun rise. I thought she was safe at her friend's home, sound asleep.

Several of her friends' homes back up to parks, trails, or open space, with gates that allow them to come and go as they please. A couple have pool houses, equipped with beds, tv's, stereos, etc. The parents are asleep while the kids party.

I am, therefore, not surprised in the least that we find kids in parks at all hours. In fact, about 4 years ago, I got a call from Folsom's finest. I thought my daughter was asleep at her friend's house, but instead, she and a couple dozen others were in Kemp park.
