oh man a pastrami cheeseburger...mmmmmm

where is Big Dip located? I think we need to add them to the list of contenders, originality also counts as a bonus and this place sounds like it has some unique burgers

you don't know where Big Dip is located? Bwahahahaha

it's the oldest hole in the wall burger joint in town

corner of Natoma & Coloma

Are you kidding or is that Sarcasm. I've been in Folsom almost 20 years and have yet to set into the dip for fear of catching something.

That's too bad - sometimes the best food comes from the least likely places (see: street vendors).

And yet Big Dip will be around well after many of the "neat and clean" esablishments on this list have gone bye bye. Go figure. BTW, Big Dip rocks!

Correction: the Big Dip sell's BJ Gurs, not Burgers, along with their Fish and Dhip

Hey I'll agree with you there. Best Cheesesteak hoagies I ever had were served in Dumps in Philly. But at least they had a line of people coming out the door to signify something good was inside. I've never seen more than a couple of cars in front of the dip.

yep, their spelling on their menu board takes some interpretation.

Big Dip

Good food for a good price,

Why, because they don't invest in painting the shack updating the so 50's/60's sign on the corner, etc.

I don't go there real often, but I do go their and just because the place is run down, it won't keep me from going there.

Oh! its that place! I always thought it was closed or abandoned, now I know where you're talking about... I seriously thought it was an empty building for years until Mylo told me it was still open

I'll have to give 'em a try sometime

I'm the first to support a hole-in-the-wall business, and the Big Dip was one of the first restaurants I tried in Folsom. Also, having it 3 doors down from where I used to live didn't hurt.

Unfortunately, the burger I got was bordering on disgusting. Frozen pattie, frost-bitten bun, one slip of soggy lettuce. Nothing to make it more than just an unpatched hole.. Great location, possibly fabulous atmosphere and nostalgia, squandered by serving worse-than-costco crap.

I'll gladly give them another try if a reviewer wants to nominate them.

Hahahah ever since I moved here I thought that place was closed or abandoned, I seriously did not know it was even open for business until 3 years after being here - but only because mylo told me

I am a fan of Big Dip. But then again, I would prefer a McDonald's plain hamburger over one made of kobe beef with onion confit on a giant bun.

I'll eat a Carls $6 burger, but just can't do a plain McD's.

I agree on preferring a Carl's to aMcD's, but when I'm at McD, it's a Big Mac and then a squirt of ketchup under the top bun and under the middle bun, the way they make it those two bun surfaces are dry (no sauce) and so I add ketchup there, or sometimes their bbq sauce if they will give me one without charging me for it.

At Carl's jr, I always request swiss cheese as they have it if you ask for it and I prefer swiss over american on a burger.

I'm surprised Dave hasn't nominated the Manderes "topless" burger.

hahah ya know I was gonna mention that about an hour or two ago, but it slipped... plus to be honest, I like the burger but I don't think its great.... probably because that darn chef always cooks it more then I'd like it to be (I think that's a Cali nanny law) - it always always always comes out medium well or well and I prefer medium to medium rare.

I haven't had the burger there in ages because of that reason, I stick with the pastrami or BLT or their Bulgogi which is by far their best sandwich (IMO)
