just an FYI....

the City of Folsom water report states the Chlorine levels run between 0.9 - 1.3 mg/l with the avarage of 1.1 mg/l. The recommended chlorine level in a pool is 1.0 to 2.0 mg/l or PPM.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to drink my pool water.

This is a sobering detail.

The important fact about this thread is the number of people who have suddenly noticed the chlorine levels are upsetting.

I noticed last year that the city water supply was much more heavily chlorinated than before. Something must have happened, or maybe the water treatment staff don't know how to keep the chemical levels at their previous level.

In any case, the idea of drinking pool water is not appealing.

Who knows what harm it does to our cells.

And when it passes through the sanitary sewer system the excess chlorine is not removed. This makes it bad for the waters where the sewage plants release.

Believe it or not, the Chlorine does escape as gas from the surface of the water
I would rather be Backpacking

if you want a visual representation of what is in our water, I just changed my filter on my whole house system and I saved the filter cartridge and some of the water from the housing. stop by the store and I'll be glad to show you.
