Well, we can't ask "normal" questions nowadays as people play with the definitions of the English language.
Take for example the word "friend". To me that always seemed to imply a platonic relationship, but as we know people use that term to identify a wide range of relationship types.
Remember the Clinton days? Where he responded no, to "Have you ever had sex with Monica?"
You have to be very specific nowadays with questions. People don't "count" certain actions in their behavior. I recall a friend who was drunk from holiday egg nog that had been spiked, but he didn't count that as drinking. Or "non-smokers" who didn't count smoking pot or cigars as "smoking". Or athletes who don't count steroid use as "doing drugs".
The test asks many questions about drinking, smoking, drugs, etc. I'm sure there are many questions that people could interpret differently. But we can get clarity with a lie detector.
