My daughters school had a pep rally a week or so, ago---
The same girl that last year spoke against out against drugs and told the middle schoolers to "just say no"--well over the summer she got caught taking drugs before a race or something.
So, the school invites her back this year to the rally. To give the same message.

I don't know, may be drug use for recreational purposes can still be done in a responsible manner, just like not everyone that drinks booze is a hopeless alcoholic. So recreational drug use doesn't always equate to loser crankhead type people. Does anyone understand this? It's why if drugs were legalized, the problem the anti-drug folks are sure will occur (moral devastation to society), won't occur.

As long as he doesn't inhale, he can still be President.

The top ones are ridilin, oxy, tylenol with codeine, cough and cold gel tabs.....
basically---the drugs used to make a designer cocktail meth-head.
What do they look like? A kid with a cold. Flushed face, glassy eyes, runny nose.

Alcohol is by far the biggest problem on campuses. Tylenol with codeine? what are you talking about? codeine is virtually useless for recreational purposes and has a ceiling dose that gives you a terrible histamine reaction when breached. Cough syrup, if it contains DXM, is a dissociative in high enough doses and causes a change of consciousness. None of these drugs are used to make meth, and i'm curious to know where you got your information from.

Everybody pulls the old "oh it's everywhere" line just to make themselves feel better but it's way worse then it ever was. I weep for the future.
Oh, puhleeeeese! You blatantly make a statement about FHS being "the worst" based only upon what a KID told you that a teacher told him/her, who got it from ????, and you claim the wool is being pulled over MY eyes? Here's something to keep in mind: Kids lie and kids exaggerate and kids pull things out of the air to discuss as if they were fact.
Again, perhaps a little wool-pulling going on?
I think supermom was going back to my statement about those drugs that kids can get out of their parents' medicine cabinets. That's the drug threat that is on the rise - but not just at FHS.

Then why are there always kids roaming the streets and barging into restaurants when I'm out having lunch?

"When it comes to teens and drug abuse, prescription medications (or "pharmies") are now second only to marijuana in popularity. Overall, teen abuse of illicit drugs is down 24 percent since 2001, according to the University of Michigan."
First two sentences in article.
"I did Sonata, which is another sleeping pill. I did Ativan, Xanax, Valium those were all more on the downer side. And then some uppers, like Adderall or Ritalin. Then there were a few painkillers throughout."
Bottom of article.

One thing I learned about these kids--is that if they can't get hold of addictive drugs to ease their pangs---they will get into your drug cabinet for other things they can sell. And there is a market for these drugs--such as tylenol with codeine, etc.
So, whereas you think it impossible for them to get high off some drugs in your cabinet-they are merely using these drugs as a cash flow. They will buy or trade what they can for the "good stuff"
So, number one drug is marijuana. Number 2 is prescription meds.
Doesn't even mention Alcohol--though ofcoarse, we all know it is quite prevalent and used improperly by teens.

Unfortunately, a newsweek article with anecdotal evidence and low external validity does not reflect reality. Prescription drug abuse is of course prevalent, but you're pretty out of touch if you believe kids are trading codeine and over the counter cough and cold medicines to get ahold of "good" drugs (i assume you mean prescriptions like oxycontin, vicodin, dilaudid, klonopin etc). I frankly don't believe that more kids are into prescription opiates and benzodiazepines than alcohol, which is a far harder drug than marijuana.
I'm not sure why you included that link to signs of methamphetamine use; nothing in your previous posts had anything to do with amphetamines (besides ritalin, which is an amphetamine salt and not methamphetamine).
EDIT: "-the drugs used to make a designer cocktail meth-head."
I'm still scratching my head as to what you mean by this.
