QUOTE (cw68 @ Aug 23 2009, 10:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Downsize their house? Does anyone here know that that house is like 2700 sq ft? I looked at renting it this past spring. It's huge.

I think I'm probably in a better position to defend "these people" than anyone else here who hasn't ever met them, doesn't know diddly squat about them or anything. I stand by what I said and that is that we shouldn't be sitting here judging them. Enforcing code is enforcing code. Calling the people who live there squatters, people from Rio Linda, muslim, minorities etc. is simply useless and non-productive.

Anyone bother to call the City or are y'all just too busy sitting here calling people names, posting pics and addresses and complaining? Anybody bother to walk up to the house and say, "Hey, it's looking pretty crappy out front. Can you do something about it?"

<crickets>

Nope, didn't think so. It's much easier to sit here on your high horses and b*tch.

And apparently you're fine with the ghetto mess or you have also chickened out about saying something but are taking the high road here? How noble of you!

No, I'm not OK with the "ghetto mess" but, frankly, I've got plenty of things to take care of (making my house looks A-OK is one) at the time being and have said so. Meanwhile, I haven't been sitting here dissing and demeaning the people who live there.

Have you called code enforcement? Have you stepped up and talked to the owners and/or residents? Yeah, didn't think so. It's much easier to sit here and spout off on an internet forum where everyone is so much better than anyone else. Take away any personal involvement in the people and it's easy to point fingers and lay blame then to take any kind of action or -- gasp! -- gain any insight into anyone's situations/barriers/life.

B*tch, moan, judge, b*tch, moan, judge. It's the modern way!

You've pretty much confirmed 2 things for me on this issue:

1. They are renters

2. They may indeed be relatives of yours.

Nope, not related to me. My closest relatives (locale-wise) are in Illinois.

And you didn't answer my question: have you done anything about this except for judge the people and b*tch about them on a face-less internet forum?

I seriously haven't talked to the woman who lives there in ages. I know WHO she is, but I don't know her, have only spoken to her a few times in public settings. That's it. I have nothing personal going on here.

To quote a friend, "I wish we could be neighbors and not accusers."

It's not my neighborhood. If it was I'd be all over it, I can assure you of that. If the people that live there are too afraid to say anything then that's their problem, along with the declining home values over there.

It's not your neighborhood. So why are you name-calling and judging?

I'm not too "afraid" to say anything and I'm definitely not sitting behind the comfort of an anonymous log-in talking smack about other people.

p.s. -- declining home values are everywhere. Probably much more so in Empire Ranch and the Parkway (the "nicer" areas) than Natoma Station currently. I've lived in plenty of affluent areas in my lifetime -- NS is definitely the neighborhood of choice. Snobs don't add to a neighborhood, they diminish it.

Then why are you posting so much about it? Why bother getting all worked up over it...or do you just have some kind of vendetta against cw68?

Seems like a whole lot of pissing into the wind for nothing..... just sayin'

Thanks, cw68.

Maybe Darth should look up the word ghetto that he likes to use so very much, but apparently doesn't have a clue what it means.

ghet⋅to  /ˈgɛtoʊ/
–noun, plural -tos, -toes. 1. a section of a city, esp. a thickly populated slum area, inhabited predominantly by members of an ethnic or other minority group, often as a result of social or economic restrictions, pressures, or hardships.
2. (formerly, in most European countries) a section of a city in which all Jews were required to live.
3. a section predominantly inhabited by Jews.
4. any mode of living, working, etc., that results from stereotyping or biased treatment: job ghettos for women; ghettos for the elderly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Origin:
1605–15; < It, orig. the name of an island near Venice where Jews were forced to reside in the 16th century < Venetian, lit., foundry for artillery (giving the island its name), n. deriv. of ghettare to throw < VL *jectāre; see jet 1

are you saying the reason they are parking the rv on the lawn is because they are jewish
that seems like a stretch

usually folks do that because it was done where they came from and the folks can't fingure out better neighborhoods don't do those things. its like some restaurants have to have shirts with collars and a person who always wore a t shirt would have a hard time figuring out why this rule is in place.

those places like gold river have the CCR and the CCR police and its hard to live there I would bet, but when you go to visit the first thing you think is how nice the place looks.

if that old rv was on my street I'd talk to a couple of trusted neighbors and we would go out and camaflage it, with green and brown paint. if the folks won't move it as a good neighbor the new paint would at least help it blend in

No, old soldier, that's not what I'm saying. I don't believe Natoma Station or any other area of Folsom could be described as a slum or ghetto.

I guess a neighborhood covert camaflaging is one way to go about solving the problem.

I think if there are indeed codes violations, then the neighbors should report it to code enforcement. If there is some violation of the CC&Rs, then they should go to the HOA. From what I understand, there is no longer an actual operating HOA in Natoma Station to address the issue of CC&R violations so enforcing those may be a problem. If that's not true I'm sure I'll soon be corrected.

Another way would be to go over and *gasp* talk to the neighbor and find out what's going on and let them know the neighborhood isn't too happy about the appearance of their property.

Nobody here lives on Sutter St but they comment all the time on threads about that area right? What's the difference?

Wow you can look up words, awesome! Once again the small minds have to say "you don't have a clue" when use of word doesn't match the exact dictionary definition. Well done, you really showed me something.

Okay, just so people know, as someone earlier mentioned, it has been learned that, yes, Wells Fargo does own the property and no they NEVER rent it out. The cops were there and the people who answered the door said they owned it. The cops returned and their story became that they rented it! Apparently the cops said that MANY people live there. They can't do much about it..so it is looking like they are squatters or maybe someone illegally rented them that home. Either way, it is still a dump and yes, code enforcement has been notified.
