I have no doubt that this is the biggest VFX movie so far.

I'm sorry. Only reason I wrote that is because it sounded like you did have doubts when you wrote this comment

Also, I think the movie looks lame. The FX don't look so great on my TV or computer, and it does not compel me to spend $$ on it in the theatre.

Heck no, if you have zero interest in a movie then please don't go see it because your just gonna rain on everybody else's parade...LOL. What I said is true and you just can't outline this movie in a paragraph like that. ANY movie's sounds stupid when you shorten it to a simple few lines like that. I'd love to explain the movie deeper to you as you originally asked but it's just pointless. Words can't describe it well. Not meaning as in the phrase, "words can't describe it" the movie is perfect. But simply that I've failed to see anybody explain it or show a preview of it and it look interesting. It just doesn't. But when I went and seen it I was really satisfied.

Anyways Darth, I did understand you the first time. I was just trying to give a very simple overview of the technology for others.

This movie is definitely groundbreaking... I would say JLS is right in the way it's basically re-written the rules of movies. We saw the trailer for Alice in Wonderland in 3D before the movie and I must say the future of the movies is positively amazing.

You absolutely must see it in 3D at Palladio. The sound is amazing, the digital projection is phenomenal.

Don't worry about the plot, Bill Z... the less you know, probably the better. This is a movie that you absolutely, positively, must see in the theaters - no doubt about it. I think Jurassic Park was the last movie I saw where I left absolutely amazed at what Hollywood can do.

I was floored by Jurassic Park when it first came out. Now it looks so hokey, it's unwatchable to me. It's amazing how our tastes and technology change with age.

MsTuffPaws, I assure you. There is NO bigger movie in the world of VFX. PERIOD. Not to the consumers who watch it, critic's or industry pro's. This IS the best VFX movie that has ever come along to the big screen since the first star wars movie.

Plus, the previews will fail to bring people to the theater. It is absolutly impossible to do this movie justice without seeing it in 3D. Its the sole purpose of the movie, story line, everything. When you actually watch this movie in 3D you instantly become a spectator in the world of Pandora and you won't want to leave that planet. Whether your a sci-fi junkie or person who hates them like my mom... this movie just works for everybody.

Anybody who waits for a DVD release of this film will never see it how its meant to be. I have a 65 inch widescreen with a killer surround sound system and I can assure you that I'll be disappointed when I'm forced to watch it on that. I agree with other films including some of my favorite action movies can be watched on a big screen tv but this one is built for the theater and 3D projection systems.

How much is James Cameron paying you?

you know, that I think about it, your emotional response to this sparkly alien movie sounds a lot like my wife's obsession with Twilight.

I don't think its age but I do agree with technology. Jurassic Park floored most people including me but now it does seem silly due to how far movies and technology has come since then...

I'll guarantee you it is more profitable than your VFX hobby and whoring yourself out to Cameron--which, I noticed, you haven't denied!

Dude.

I've owned two pro video businesses. I know plenty about them.

This thread wasn't about name calling. It was about avatar. Maybe it would be nice if you actually see the film before posting in a review area for it and comparing men to your wife simply for enjoying the movie and posting about it.

Moving on...

I just find your gushing about it funny. That's really it. Where was the name calling?

And I've owned "one" business and have managed to keep it in business. I said nothing about what you knew about pro vid businesses, I said what I do is more profitable. Because your odd remark seemed to imply that your infatuation with a movie (featuring blue sparkly aliens) is somehow more worthy of respect than what I do for a living---when the two subjects don't even share the same zip code.

But what you said was perfect in illustrating my point that you're a bit over emotional about a movie. Nothing wrong with that, I just find it funny.

Hell, if the movie wasn't over 2 hours, you would have sold me on it.

I posted this thread for people to review avatar if they seen it. I'm not here to coach what goes on in a thread after it's posted as we all have our own rights. But in a perfect world I'd really like to see it come back to reviews from those of us who seen it.

Why are you avoiding your ties with James Cameron?

I only got involved in your blue sparkly alien thread because of your "it will beat all movies aside from Titanic" statement.

And while I'm glad you enjoyed the blue sparkly alien movie, I think a film fails if the sales pitch becomes "you can't enjoy it on regular screens or a television, you have to see it in 3D!" ....I think that was the sales pitch for Captain E.O. and Jaws III.

Feel free to get back to your James Cameron/Palladio ads... my project has finished rendering.

It would be nice if James and Palladio sent me a little extra for all this advertisement... thats for sure.

Although I'm not in-love with Palladio at all, its RealD which both EDH and Palladio have. It's the IMAX at EDH that isn't RealD and most likely isn't the most optimal viewing experience.

If I seem pro palladio at all to people it's only because nobody seems to know about palladio right now and the place is dead so you don't have to wait in line like at EDH for some showtimes. This goes for all the new movies I've seen there.

GFFMatt, I'm not sure if your doubting the gross of the film that I'm touting or not... but we'll see. Go see it. If it doesn't impress you or make more then every movie but titanic then I'll paypal you a reimbursement for your ticket prices. Otherwise, stop bagging on a movie or calling me out for making statements when you haven't even seen the movie yourself.

It really was a very good film and so far only you and one other person in this thread have lambasted it, and ironically neither of you have seen the movie, shouldn't you at least see it before you critique it?

You of all people should know that some films are meant for the big screen over home tv viewing, but then again maybe you've never seen a film in 3D? - FYI, Captain E.O. was state of the art at the time and frankly, it was the last really good 3D film before this one.
