So dinner was great. Its really nice inside, our table had a slight lighting problem were you felt like you were on a stage with a spotlight on you. Our waiter was sort of robotic, very nice and professional but we felt rushed to order then to pay the bill. People were nice and dressed up so that was nice, they played nice music and the atmosphere was great. I got the ribeye, my wife the halibut. Both were great, cooked perfect (fresh and hot) and came with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. We each got a salad and split an asparagus dish. I hope the prices were marked up because we spent ~$100 (including tip) for that and one lemonade each. Our table had a cloth table cloth which was nice and I found out while we were eating you can park in the garage under the building (good to know) . All in all the waiter needed to loosen up a little but the place is new and they were probably rushing us because they were busy for Valentines day. The food was excellent but a little pricey, we will definitely go back but I hope they mark the prices down a little when its not a holiday. It would be nice to know if the menu we ordered from was marked up.

So dinner was great.

Comparing to the 5th St. Steakhouse online menu:

Salad: $6.95
Salad: $6.95
Rib Eye: $25.95
Halibut: $22.95
Mash: $3.95
Mash: $3.95
Asparagus: $6.95
Drinks: $?
===
Total: $77.65
+8.25% (is that tax these days) = $84.06
+ 17% tip = $98.35

Doesn't look too "marked up for the holiday" to me.

I took my wife early last week and we both had a great experience. I ordered the RIbeye and she ordered teh Surf and Turf. We both had salads and split a desert. Total bill including tip was ~$100. We also ordered a bottle of wine at the bar that was ~$35. Considering this is a high end steakhouse I didn't find the dinner bill to be over inflated. I do agree the waiters (at least ours) could loosen up a bit. I hope they do well and succeed here in Folsom becuase this place needs a high end restaurant like that. There are just to many mediocre chain restaurants that exist in this town.

$100 including tip for two is not excessive for a high end steakhouse. Price out a comparable place like Ruth's Chris for the same meal and I bet you will spend just as much, if not a little more.

Not in Folsom, we pay 8.75%

Tax in Sacramento county is 8.75% (except Galt is 9.25%)

Tax in El Dorado County is 8.25% (Except South Lake Tahoe is 8.75%)

Tax in Placer County is 8.25% (No city exceptions that I saw)

For details on other counties and cities, visit the State Board of Equalization

and from wiki:
QUOTE
10.75% (as of July 1, 2009, the city of South Gate and Pico Rivera increased their sales-tax rate to this level, the highest in California
