There are still too many things this doesn't do. Lack of Flash support I expect will be the real killer for most people.

but if you can't access the file structure how do you save files and send attachments?
I think I'll stick with my netbook that does everything

Looks-wise it reminds me of a large cell phone or remote control for seniors with big keys but I like the size and thinness.
Mylo and others have covered much of the MIA features. I think it could still be a hit.
A few questions I havent researched yet is will an iPhone user be able to swap the SIM and use 3G cellular on the iPad -- certainly ATT will want or make you get another data plan vs. using the iPhone account but would be nice if you could use same SIM. I mean come on the mandatory data plan for iPhoen for "unlimited" data should be fair use.
Will iPad versions of apps you have purchased on the iPhone be free or a small upgrade vs. full purchase?
those would have been much better names!
and too funny... a large cell phone for seniors buwahahahhahaa - is it really a phone too?

so what exactly is in between an iphone and a laptop? a bigger screen to view movies and photos? I'm dissapointed, I was hoping this was going to be a useful device that COULD replace my laptop... I already have an iphone and my 10.5" netbook works just fine for watching movies on an airplane
plus a fully loaded netbook that can run just about any pc program AND linux is only $350 - paying around $700 for a supersized iphone just seems nuts to me.... and don't get me wrong, I LOVE Apple but I just don't get this device... not yet anyways... I want something that can run office apps and be more useful then just watching movies and looking at photos and the other things an itouch or iphone already do

I call BS, don't believe all the marketing material you read - proof is needed. Apple said something similar about the iphone and ever since they updated the latest firmware, battery power has been very lacking, I often find myself charging it in the morning and afternoon

Although the pad is "unlocked" I don't believe it can be used on anything other then ATT in the US. ATT is here to stay unfortunately...
I bet Apple might have been persuaded to use Verizon until they started playing dirty with the 3G commercials. If Verizon wanted to work with Apple they shouldn't have attacked them via the ATT commercials. Instead Apple helped ATT in commercials against Verizon. I honestly think Verizon had a chance up until that point....
You understand T-Mobile is another GSM carrier along with ATT, right? And Verizon\Sprint\Boost etc require a completely cellular radio stack?
Most of the world is GSM based which is one of the reasons I believe they went GSM and leveraged ATT's marketing power to launch their product. It came with a price aka exclusivity with ATT, but they were able to later branch out into Vodafone, China Mobile and others with partnerships. An unlocked iPhone can use it almost anywhere on any GSM carrier but it won't be $199 or $299 because it isn't subsidized.
A CDMA\EvDO based iPhone from a market share is limited to US, Brazil, parts of India, pockets in Germany and China. Besides VZW would f up the OS image with their shananigans. They are more evil in respect to their device choices, OS images and how the device is used.
