We tried them today - food was pretty good.

Burger - can't say it tasted all that different than anything else. Smash Fries were pretty good - they put rosemary or something in it, made for a unique flavor I liked. Shake was great. I really liked that after they made the shake, they actually give you the rest of the cup they made it in. Not like at Jamba Juice, where they fill up your cup and throw the rest in the sink, as to say to you "not yours"... tongue.gif

I'd go again. However it's kinda crazy tho think of the calorie count!

We went today and I had the chicken sandwich. I thought it was really tasty. I thought the fries were pretty good, too. Not the best I've had, but better than some. The place was a hit with the kids, so I'm sure we'll be back. Maybe next time I'll try the shake.

i was in Miami last week, happened upon a "Five Guys", and decided to try it - it was awesome! love the topping options. i think they could give In N Out a run for their money if people give them a chance. At the Nut Tree in Vacaville on Sunday, i noticed there is a "Five Guys" coming soon

Can't wait! Five Guys is the bomb. Best burger chain IMHO.

Tried Smash Burger last night. Very juicy, very tasty, but also very greasy.

The sweet potato fries were good, as were the Smash fries. The onion straws tasted good but were just a bit too greasy.

Kind of expensive and probably very unhealthy. I felt wanting more after chowing down a mushroom-swiss 1/3-pounder. I'll want the 1/2 pounder next time.

Service was ok, but less than snappy. Food was served quickly enough. Empty tables were not promptly cleared and wiped while we were there. Floors felt greasy. For now I'll chalk it up to startup tuning in progress.

Good for an occasional guilty pleasure.

Double Double at In-n-Out has 42g total fat
Red Robin gourmet cheeseburger has 60g total fat.

Burgers are a great occasional meal but as good as they are, they are NOT health food.

Just tried Smashburger for the first time. The one on Sunrise, not the Folsom one, because I happened to be passing through that area. I got the BBQ bacon burger with the Smash Fries (fries tossed in olive oil, basil, and garlic). Excellent! Good quality ingredients and very tasty. When I got the burger, it was with the top bun off like others described, and there were no condiments at all on the top bun. There was BBQ sauce on the patty, but I was worried that the burger would taste a little dry. It wasn't! The burger was juicy, it had the right amount of sauce, and even the bun (egg bun) was fresh and moist. But it wasn't overly greasy as some described. I think it was just right.

I have not tried a shake yet because it was lunch time on a work day and I didn't want to be stuffed, but I will definitely get one next time.

I will definitely be back. Nice to have another great burger joint in town.

Went twice this week and was reasonably happy. Both burgers were good (the bacon excellent) and had both the Smash fries (FF w/olive oil, rosemary, garlic) and the sweet potato fries. I wasn't crazy about the malt, however. It was good but not worth $4 and not very "malty." If I want a really good one I'll go to Sutter Street Grill, Leatherby's, or even Carl's Jr. I was a little taken aback that my order of a 1/4 buger w/bacon, Smash fries, and the malt came to just under $12!

DavidH Are you sure its 1/4lb because menu says 1/3 and /2 lb burgers.

$12 seems high but doubt you could do better at SSG, BSB, Islands, RR for similar 1/3 lb burger, shake and fries. SSG is $10 for a bacon cheeseburger, iced tea and fries.

They have all 3; 1/4, 1/3, and 1/2lbs

With a fancy-pants malt (my wife also said it was short on the malt), $12 aint bad. A BigMac, Fries, and Coke will run you, what, almost $7 nowadays.

I stopped in there yesterday and had a 1/4 pound burger on a sourdough bun and strawberry shake for around $8. The price did not bother me. The 1/4 burger seemed a bit smaller than the McDonald's 1/4 pounder but it was much better. The meat may have shrunk when they cooked off all the grease. Regardless, I really liked the burger but would get a bigger hunk of meat next time. The bun was very good. I really only stopped in for the shake as I love old-fashioned ones. It WAS nice to get the remnants in the metal cup. However, the shake was not very tasty. There were no chunks of strawberry (that's what I look for in a truly old-fashioned shake) and it tasted a bit processed. I think Baskin Robbins makes a much better shake.

Would I go back? Yes, primarily for the burger with a bigger piece of meat. I would still probably try the fries and the chocolate shake, though.

Tried it today. Was good, but nothing great. In-in-Out I think is better and cheaper. Not a place I would go to if I had "burger on the brain."

Tried Smash Burger for the first time on Monday (the one in Citrus Heights). Overall, everything I had was good except for the chocolate malt. The "malt" did not have any malt flavoring that I could taste and was thin. But I enjoyed the hamburger, haystack onions and fried pickles. It cost us about $35 for our party of four which consisted of three burgers, two oders of haystack onions, two orders of fried pickles, one order of fries, four drinks, and one malt. Overall not a bad price for the amount of food.

Does anyone know if they are serving beer yet? Something about them offering beer sounds more appealing. Last time I was there, it was not available yet.
