thank you rightwing! that does make more sense to me. sure is a different explanation than .........................."The late agreement for this school year was the reason the school year couldn't just start a week later since school had already started before the agreement.".............(i took this as yet another slam on the teachers)
To be specific and accurate, the agreement came late enough in the year that the school calendar (and in particular the published start date for the school year) was already approved and communicated to the public. It was too late in the year to shift the start of school. I wasn't trying to "slam" anyone, just wishfully hoping that if concessions are achieved for next fall that it occur early enough to avoid days off in the middle of the school year.

Seems like your priorities are mixed up as well. Plus it is insulting to the excellent FCUSD Kindergarten teachers to think parents can do a better job than them.
As a parent of 4, I find it insulting that anyone thinks they can do a better job with my children than I can. Some parents aren't equipped to teach their own children kindergarten level skills; some don't care to; but to be insulted by those of us who can take care of our own children is an incredible reaction to the discussion on the necessity for Kindergarten. (Sorry, Pari, I'm defensive again, but knocking parents in favor of teachers always gets my goat.)
