Unsafe Boat Parked in WS Driveway/Lawn

Cloud9 please remember that many folks will park their boat on the street for a period of time to wash the boat and such. Of course they should always be attached to a tow vehicle... and put away once complete. If they are just sitting on the street to sit on the street... that is not cool. My boat will be on the street or in the driveway for 5-6 hours a week for washing either Wednesday or Saturday. It is always attached to a truck and always out away (in the garage) after the chore is completed.

Come on now, over 1800 responses to this thread and nobody in the neighborhood thought of talking to these people. I read one response: "yipee skippy." What is that all about? A way to hide behind automation so that nobody knows who you are? This was handled like a witch hunt, and nobody had the common decency to voice their disapproval face-to-face with the individual.
Don't get me wrong, I too believe it is important to take a neighborhood stand, and have in the past been been an active member on a HOA board. If we, the homeowners, are not willing to take a stand on issues, then we deserve what we get. And believe me, there are a lot of people who have no pride what-so-ever in their home, yet alone their neighbors. The majority of you that have included responses in this thread are spineless. You've used this arena to criticize, condemn, and complain. Mighty neighborly of you.

Actually, the complainant did go to the home several times to speak to the boat owner, but no one answered the door. Please read all the posts here and you'll see there were many attempts to be "neighborly".............

I appreciate the folks for resolving the problem. I have drafted a thank you letter and will attempt a hand delivery.... but my expectation is I will have to mail.
It is truly amazing how different the front of their home looks now.... simply amazing.

I agree that talking is the first step. Not that I was involved w/ this, but I thought that at least one (if not several) of the neighbors did speak with the owner of said property.

I moved from the Briggs Ranch area into this neighborhood two years ago. The biggest reason for moving specifically revolved around unruly neighbors, I'm aware how frustrating situations can be. Some people think that they exist on an island, they choose to do whatever they please with little or no regard toward their neighbors. It's easy to talk it, but it's nicer to see someone walk it.

Wow! The similarities are eerie. We just moved to Willow Springs about three weeks ago from Briggs, and much had to do w/ a truly bad neighbor situation. It would be interesting to hear what happened with you. From my understanding, the neighbor I had an issue with has helped force out a few others over the years.
Anyway, Willow Springs has been everything I could have hoped for so far.

I can understand the washing bit....but I can step outside my home right now and see boats in driveways, streets, etc.
There is one that's been on the street for months.

I kind of wonder about that myself. We would probably have a few laughs about it at least. So glad to be out of that situation.

Agreed, although there also is no where near a consensus on what a good neighbor is apparently.

Sure there is. That's when you're closest next door neighbor live in the next farm over about 10miles.

Boat on Donnelley is in process I will be sending a nice letter and copy of CCR's asking them to kindly move the boat.
Boat on Berg was resolved 3 days after a call to code enforcement.
Boat on Brock was moved to driveway after call to code enforcement. Trying to find owner home to ask them to utilize the covered RV parking they have available to them.
Jets Skis on trailer in lawn on Mallard will try and talk with this owner soon. Just noticed these tonight.
Camping trailer on Brock resolved after talk with neighbor.
Boat in street and now in driveway on Pintail will talk with owner soon.
I am discouraged at the number of folks who either know the rules and choose to ignore them or simply have not taken the opportunity to read what they sign. I feel confident that working with the owners in question will result in something positive for everyone in Willow Springs
As a reminder here is CCR 1.11
Garages and Vehicles:
All driveways and garages shall be maintained in a neat and orderly condition. A trailer, boat or recreational vehicle (but only one of them and only one per lot or parcel) may be parked on a lot or parcel and not within a garage provided that any such vehicle is parked in an enclosed area, is maintained in a neat and clean manner, and is not visible from the public streets within the Properties or from other lots or parcels. No vehicle of any type (including Motorcycles) shall be parked or upon and lot or parcel, excluding the garage, for the purpose of accomplishing repairs thereto or reconstruction thereof; except for emergency repairs and they only to the extent necessary to enable movement of the vehicle. For any repairs conducted within a garage, the garage door(s) shall remain closed during any such repair work and noise caused by such work shall not unreasonably disturb another Owner's quiet enjoyment of his Lot or Parcel.
So for boat, trailer, campers, etc. Not in the street (City Code and CCR) and not in the driveway (CCR). Those reading this post... and correcting items I thank you very much!! Thanks for hearing me

I think the term good neighbor is highly variable due to the various kinds of folks who are neighbors.... City Code and CCR are another story. I personally define a good neighbor as someone who respects the neighborhood enough to abide by the applicable rules but others may feel this does not have a place in the definition of a good neighbor... to each his own... my simple request is that we abide by the rules we already agreed to with our signature. We have a wonderful and dynamic neighborhood... with no, by comparison, big issues.... I am proud to live here in Willow Springs I hope others feel the same.
my 2 cents... (I probably owe a couple of bucks for this post)
