Dickey's BBQ

I just found this thread by searching for Dickey's Barbecue Pit, Folsom. I am the owner of the new restaurant opening at the old Steve's Pizza site on the front of Walmart. We knew about the demise of Steve's Pizza before signing the lease, and we know about the issues that businesses face today. Even so we are excited to be bringing Dickey's to Folsom. The company has been in existence since 1941 and is better known in it's home state of Texas. It is still run by Mr Dickey and his son, and is to date one of the more successful franchise companies with a low 3% failure rate. Dickey's is on target to open around 120 new locations in 2012.
As you might imagine the main menu items are slow cooked meats, pulled pork, brisket, ribs, sausages, chicken and turkey. We are shipping in a commercial smoker from Texas manufactured by Southern Pride, to slow cook our meats for 14 hours over night, providing the tenderness and flavor that BBQ fans love.
From this thread I can see that some of the folks in Folsom are jaded and somewhat cynical about the existing and failed restaurants in the town and predict an early demise for us. I do hope though, that there are those out there that will give us a chance - we are not doing this to bring mediocrity to Folsom, and we are certainly not doing it with one eye on failure.
It is our intention to offer a warm friendly family environment, with quality reasonably priced meals to those people who also love the taste and texture of smoked meats combined with sides of fried okra, mac 'n' cheese and baked potatoes.
Folsom needs businesses to prosper, and those businesses need the support of you, the people of this city. All I ask is that you give us a chance, for you might just be pleasantly surprised!
Best regards to all of you.

I wish you all the success. Folsom does not have a good track record of attracting or retaining good BBQ joints.
Will you be doing any types of promotions such as kids eat free night (I believe the Roseville location does this) or discounts for employees of some of the larger companies in the Folsom area?

We will be providing loyalty cards to employees of the larger companies around the location and will actively be promoting the restaurant over the coming months. Our projected opening date is April 24th. We do hope that Folsom will support us. I certainly look forward to welcoming you to our restaurant

We are actually Brits, but have lived in the Folsom area for 10 years. The U.S is our adopted home and we are here to stay - it has been a great environment in which to raise our family. Now they are almost off hand we are embarking on this new venture. I am a qualified chef, and I will set high standards for service, cleanliness and quality. Although there is high risk of failure in any business, there is also high potential for success if you do it right and put your customers first.
Look forward to seeing you soon!
