1. Samuel Horne
2. The Habit
3. In & Out

5. Smashburger
That's my same exact order of my burger favorites in town too!
Sam Hornes Cooty Burger is IMO the #1 best burger in Folsom

Burgerocity over Smashburger? I have only eaten at Burgerocity twice each time the burger was really dry and somewhat tasteless. That's my same exact order of my burger favorites in town too!

To be honest, I rarely go to the lower listed places and IMO its a toss up between the two because I've had dry burgers at smashburger as well as burgerocity. The Habit will be my go to fast burger joint, it's my fav and closest to me.
At The Habit in Santa Barbara they also serve beer and wine...but I think it's the only one that does. I use to go there all the time when I worked in SB.

Cooty is # 1 -- yes.
But Burgerocity is better than Habit or In and Out.
Habit had no flavor at all from the meat. Burgerocity has a great flavor.
In and Out is fast food, and in a different category altogether.
Karen's Bakery and Sutter St Grill are also two places with great burgers.

Karen's, BSB, Sam Horne's, Island's would be a different category.
I wonder if there is variance depending on beef shipment, who's cooking, etc.... I've only been to, for example, Smashburger a handful of times but it's generally been juicy . In-Out (less than a dozen times) has generally been dry for me and the fries are a mixed bag - usually soggy and not crisp but occasionally okay. I like the sweet potato fries at Smash and Habit -- tasty and crispy. I haven' tried regular fries at either place.
I only go to these types of fast burger joints maybe once a month (if that).
It sounds like Sam Horne's is a winner - I'd like to try that soon.

I like my burgers dry. Juicy greasy ones creep my out. I guess I'm weird? I love a charburger at Habit, it's small and manageable.
Anyway, I love Habit, and don't like In-N-Out, although I agree they are very similar. Smashburger and Burgerocity are indistinguishable to me, but hubby likes Burgerocity better for an unknown reason.

Just finished my burger. Verdict? It's OK. I didn't like that they didn't offer cheddar, only American cheese (which I really don't like). I liked the grilled onions but the burger itself was just OK. Probably won't come back. I prefer Sam Horne's, Manderes and Smashburger.Burgerocity over Smashburger? Through the month of September, for a $2.00 donation to No Kid Hungry, The Habit will give you a coupon for a free char with cheese on your next visit. Win-win.
