My feeling is that people want to get to where they want to go too quickly. Simply allowing more time for the trip would get them there on time, if they have to be some place at an appointed time.
However, others seem to have too much of a heavy foot when it comes to driving. And I think the speeding tickets they get, should give them a clue that they are risking a serious accident, which may result in somebodies death.
And those who have received speeding tickets know who you are.
Lastly, two lane highways have always been more dangerous than any other sort of highway. When there is not some sort of divider to keep head on accidents to a minium, there will be serious accidents when they happen. And people just drive too darn fast...period. I always go the speed limit and get passed right and left, with dirty looks.

His wife, Brenda, is still in the ICU and the hospital is not allowing visitors. Not even her closest kin
She has sustained quite a bit of damage to the chest and is not doing well. However, if she can beat the pneumonia, they think she might make it
This is a greater tragedy than it seems. Just last year, this couple lost their 21 year old daughter to a traffic accident on White Rock.
Their little boy is 8, and quite a character. This is going to be difficult on him. He had a special relationship with his dad .

I'm sorry to hear Brenda sustained such serious injuries as well and hope she will recover from them and the pneumonia. Was their son the third person in the vehicle? If so, did he sustain any injuries? This has to be a tough time for him. Is he with family?
How awful that the family had already lost a daughter/sister.

I don't think he was in the car, I don't know the full story. But he is ok, and with family.

You confirmed my fears on the affected family. My son and their son are in the same class. From what I know of him it will indeed be very difficult on him. I was concerned that the son was involved since the initial reports described a pre-teen in the car.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Are there any updates on Brenda? This is so heartbreaking. I'm praying for them.

I talked to Kevin's dad yesterday.
They are still not letting anyone in to see her
but there seems to have been some slight improvement in her condition
but still not good.

It's been three weeks since this terrible accident. Does anyone know why there hasn't been an official update or did I miss it? Who was the other driver?
I was wondering the same thing.
A while back a child was hit by a car while riding a motorized scooter and we never heard if he recovered or what exactly happened. I thought at least The Folsom Telegraph would do a follow-up story, but they never did.

Seems like the Folsom Telegraph news, if that is what some choose to call it, has turned it’s attention to the ‘nicer side of life in folsom’.
We wouldn’t want to paint Folsom in a bad light, after all. What with businesses failing and homes not being sold as fast as realtors would like, how could we attract more residents if it reported the news???
BUT, I hear something every few days, on the local news channels about Folsom, which is
negative. Or it is written up in the Sacramento Bee. But, after all, we are no longer the small friendly town we used to be. (ducking) It’s not the same town I moved into ten years ago, that’s for sure.
In the crash we are addressing, there may be law suits which are being discussed, so some details of the crime won’t be forthcoming until later. But one would think we would still get some short article giving an update, in our local newspaper.

There sure are a lot of ‘Event’ announcements in the Folsom Telegraph though!

Well, Maxine R, to be fair to The Folsom Telegraph, it is a little local paper. I do expect to see events and human interest stories about residents and what local sports team made it to championships or playoffs. News isn't only crime and tragedy.
However, if there were any citations issued in this crash or if the exact cause were determined or if someone were still in critical condition and a family needs help, it would be nice if they did a follow-up story. For all we know, the PD isn't releasing any information.

It is always nice to know that they will be ok, but the family has a right to withold medical release of information until the person can make that determination on their own. And some families just kind of close up when tragedies strike.
I imagine if the police did a DUI test on the drivers of both vehicles, that the tests will come back within the next few weeks and then we will hear in the papers if their is an arrest. I really hope that lady is going to be ok, though. It seems to me that that little boy losing his momma right now would be a terrible blow.

Ducky I agree but we have to remember that the PD cannot release information about the injured parties without the family oking that release of medical information. And I imagine that if there is criminal investigation going on, they will be quiet unless it is necessary.

That's kind of what I meant about the PD not releasing information. There's a whole host of reasons for why they haven't or won't release info. If the family has asked for privacy, they absolutely are entitled to that.
Like you, I think there are many of us worried about the survivors and how they are doing.

So very sad.
It does not mention how the woman and child are recovering? I hope they are ok
