Perhaps they aren't disclosing that info because they don't want a bunch of middle school kids hunting around for a discarded weapon-- or worse, for a younger kid to find it and hurt himself.

It seems like the robber could have left the scene if he had parked a car in the Target lot, for example. Roaming the streets on foot was not a good strategy.
My first thought was "did they really have to shoot him, in order to apprehend him"? But once I read that a screaming family was barricaded in a bedroom, and he was in the vicinity of that room, I can't fault the police for firing on him. The family's safety had to be absolutely protected.
I wonder how the one officer sustained a leg injury. My guess is that he pulled a hamstring when sprinting after the robber - probably not used to that kind of thing. Oh, wait - the article said the leg injury was UNrelated to the apprehension of the suspect. I wonder what that was all about, then - I know it's not the important part of the story, but I always like the peripheral stuff.

I have heard eye witness accounts from the neighbors where he was killed that he was shooting at the police as he ran.
I haven't heard from eyewitnesses, but someone in the neighborhood said they did hear multiple shots.

Is it just me, or does it look like the suspect was reaching for or showing something that looked like a gun tucked into his waistband in the third picture? https://i.nixle.com/...45055628-media3
It does look like that, but it's hard to tell.

The suspect was trying to get into a locked bedroom where the family had fled when the two officers engaged him in the hallway. As the suspect turned to flee into another bedroom, the Sheriff’s deputy shot the suspect once in the back.

The report from the Folsom Police Department does not mention that he was armed, it does say he was shot in the back....
The suspect was trying to get into a locked bedroom where the family had fled when the two officers engaged him in the hallway. As the suspect turned to flee into another bedroom, the Sheriff’s deputy shot the suspect once in the back.
Exactly. The part that isn't clear is the line of sight from the officer to the suspect's hands. How "turned" was the suspect? Could the officer tell he wasn't armed or was it too difficult to tell from his angle? If he shot the suspect in the back it's likely the officer couldn't see the suspect's hands, but feared for the safety of family who might be in the other room.

I mean, really, what is there that these punks misunderstand about the command, “STOP!....POLICE!....PUT YOUR HANDS UP!”?
I’ve seen live footage of these thugs running from police, and wondering why they think they won’t get shot. A police officer is yelling, again and again for them to stop, yet they keep on running.
This time, the criminal was shot dead and no doubt, there will be those who say it was uncalled for. Must a criminal have a gun and be pointing it at an officer in order to justify being shot by said officer? Is there some law that says a police officer can not shoot you unless you are aiming a gun at him????? If so, there is little need for the police to yell, “STOP! OR I’LL SHOOT!”.
We seem to see these runners more and more often. The poor police, forced to try and out run these thugs, rather than just shoot them. And while they are running, they scare everybody to death, damage property and endanger more lives.
I say yell three times for them to stop, then shoot their arse. Done, and done.

FOLSOM (CBS13) – A suspect was eventually shot and killed after an attempted bank robbery in Folsom early Tuesday evening.
The robbery attempt occurred at 5:11 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Bank on 1113 East Bidwell St.
The suspect reportedly fled onto the roof of a Target store across the street from the bank and then tried to escape into neighborhood yards before ending up inside a home in the 1300 block of School Road occupied by two adults and two children.
Shots were reportedly fired inside the home. CBS13 Nick Janes reported that the suspect was killed.
Folsom Police Sgt. Jason Browning confirmed the officer-involved shooting but didn’t provide any other details.

And a big thanks to Sacramento County Sheriff and Sacramento PD for responding too.At least it was just the idiot that bit the dust. Thank you FPD and I hope that this family gets any and all help and support needed.
While I feel for the criminal's family, I do believe this is a case of thinning of the gene pool.
