Great new meat market has opened between Sbarkles and Trader Joe's. I think it used to be the Harvest Bread place. It's called Adam's Meats I believe and the guy has an incredible selection and it looks really nice in there!

Awesome! Guess I will have to check it out in person.

Not much info on their website or facebook.    http://adamsmeatshop.com/  https://www.facebook.../adamsmeatshop/

Also awesome to see nomad happy.

So sprouts, which sounds a bit like trader joes, is going in directly across the street?

I had dinner at a friend's place last night. We had a ginormous rib-eye purchased from Adam's. It was fantastic!

I think they focus more on healthy and fresh than does Trader Joe's. They also have deli and meat counters like larger markets do.

As Steve points out they do have a different model than TJs.  However, I wondered with all the vacant grocery storefronts why did they choose to go directly across from TJs.  Their real estate people must think it is good waiting for the site to become available.  They are also only taking 2/3s of the OSH space.

They might be going after the same market.

Remember when ACE Hardware was on East Bidwell? I believe Orchard Supply and Lowe's opened within a year of one another.

I wondered how all three could survive. Soon, we'll be down to just Lowe's.

Steve, did you forget Folsom Lumber?

Along those lines, now we will have Dick's, Big 5 and Sports Authority.  I don't see all three of them surviving.

I seem to remember when some people were saying that both Home Depot and Lowe's would NOT be able to survive simultaneously.

I've been waiting for a real butcher in Folsom for a long time.  Have been going to Orangevale meats for years but would be nice to have something closer.

Yes, I did forget about Folsom Lumber. Lot's of old time businesses have gone, but I guess that's the way it's always been. Sports Authority is in BK, and Big 5 has a bad location. I imagine Dick's will take a lot of business away.

That's true. They both seem to be doing well.

It will also be interesting to see how the health club situations play out. Right now we have 3 major clubs:

24 hour

Cal Fit

Broadstone

There are a bunch of other smaller clubs but they tend to come and go or have relatively small client base.

Now add Lifetime Fitness to the mix and it could get tough for some of the existing places. But the rates for Lifetime are outrageous, something close to $300 a month for a family of four and they will need a LOT of members to keep that place full. I guess the one in Roseville has enough people willing to pay that. Almost makes me wonder why they chose Folsom for the place but I guess we'll see. Maybe they think folks from EDH and above will join?

In the Raley's center there is a Jersey Mike's Sub shop.  Not sure if it's open yet.

It's been open 1 month. Had lunch there today...got a *free regular sub* offer in the mail. Tried the #2 sub...with chips and a drink. Excellent, but maybe a little heavy on the oil and vinegar...I'll remember that next time. The place is next to SmashBurger, it's bright and clean with plenty of seating...and 2 flat screen TV's for sports. The staff very nice. Prices comparable to the other sub shops in town. Drinks are self-serve.

2 Thumbs Up for Jersey Mike's...especially if there's a game on TV.

I met some girlfriends for lunch yesterday at Costa Vida Fresh Mexican which recently opened by Roundtable and Jamba Juice. I thought it was good.

Yes, I think one of the reasons for the location is that it is an easy drive from EDH so will draw from there as well as Folsom.

I go to a small strength & conditioning gym in EDH.

There are people who come from Placerville as well as the opposite direction, downtown, Elk Grove, Roseville & beyond.

People come due to the reputation of the owner, Vince Mini.

I really think it depends on what you offer, and the specialized training that is offered.

There may be a market for an expensive corporate gym...I dont know.
