Joe, just did a quick look at electricity costs of wind vs traditional. these are the numbers I found:
Energy Source Cost/kWH
Unsubsidized wind $0.032 to $0.077 per kWH (depending on geographic location)
SMUD $0.12 per kWH (no longer tiered)
PG&E $0.20 to $0.40 per kWH (depending on tier)
I'm suspicious of the wind numbers and will take a better look later tonite. It's out to dinner right now. Sutter St Steakhouse!
Joe - quick follow-up. Looked for more info last nite. Looks like wind power numbers I found were low and should be about 3X what I posted. I also found that fossil fuels are highly subsidized by tax breaks (both federal and state), gov't sponsored access to markets, extremely attractive federal land lease deals, and no-compete regulations. It seems when you remove these subsidies from fossil fuel, wind & solar become very competitive. Won't happen soon because republicans bow down to fossil fuel interests. I don't have time to dig out the numbers and analyze, so will leave it with that.
I'll be returning to the "crazy" posts going forward, but won't be as often. Got a new gig. Finished the ski industry article and just got hired to write a series on the veterinarian business in Colo. Gotta get to work on it. Woof and Moo!

April 1 - Crazy Report (Unfortunately, these aren't April Fools jokes)
1) Department of Energy bans the use of the words "climate change" throughout the department. The term can't be used in documents, reports, speeches, presentations, emails, or anywhere.
2) US will extract itself from the Paris Accord Agreement. this move relinquishes America's leadership role in a global issue. Perhaps another influential country or alliance will pick up the responsibility.
3) Auto emission standards will be rolled back. Did anyone live in, or visit LA in the 1980's? That brown sky? we're headed back to that?
4) Surface mining operations will be allowed to dump tailings into rivers and streams again. This isn't part of "protecting our air and water" as promised during the campaign.
5) Rewrite the Clean Power Plan to allow power generating facilities to increase emissions. the executive office has no authority to do this, so it will take years to develop new rules. Fortunate.
6) Direct the Pentagon to no longer consider climate change impacts when developing national security doctrine, policies, and plans. Sacrifice our national security for an ideology?
Crazy is as crazy does.

DEMOCRATS....THE *CRAZY* CONTINUES..
Just for fun, I took a look at your posting to see if you're contributing anything worthwhile. Apparently not. Marion Barry was mayor of Washington DC 20 years ago, and died almost 3 years ago. Your posts and cartoon pictures continue to be irrelevant regarding today's politics. You need to come into this century. Until then, back to your position on my ignore list. Bye

Crazy report for April 6, 2017 -
Last week, it was reported that Fox News and Bill O'Reilly have paid out $13,000,000 over the last 15 years to settle sexual harassment lawsuits. For the casual observer, it appears that O'Reilly has some sort of "thing" for females and is unable to restrain himself. He then buys the silence of the (alleged) victims with buckets of money. And each of the settlements includes a gag order that prevents the plaintiff from talking about or mentioning the incident or settlement terms in public or in private. If the perpetrator's name was Bill Cosby, all hell would break loose. But for some reason, Bill O'Reilly thinks he gets a pass. this in itself is crazy.
And then to double down on crazy, our president comments, "I don't think Bill did anything wrong." If taken literally, this means the prez condones the idea of selecting a female victim, pursuing her, committing some kind of sexual harassment, and if she complains, offering a huge payment in exchange for her silence. He doesn't think this is "anything wrong". Comments he made during the campaign tend to confirm this. And then, there's the issue about the presidential press secretary who says, "Nothing the president says should be taken literally."
For me, this is all crazy.

OR, Bill O reilly was an easy target for legal extortion. I've seen it happen (on a smaller scale). Who knows? I am withholding judgement until those pesky things called facts come out. One other thing, if there were non-disclosures, how is this getting press?
