I went to Cheesesteak shop a couple of days ago too and was disappointed as well. I was expecting a 7" cheesesteak to be more than enough food, like at Steak Escape. However it was very skimpy, It was practically Subway. I won't be back.

i'd be curious to get your opinion about Taka's (17th & S, Sacramento). it's the only sushi place I really frequent (when i can), aside from places in SF.... i'm a sushi snob, too tongue.gif

Give Taiko another try sometime....they really are good.

My family (as well as myself) have a 3 strikes system. We go once, if it's bad we'll wait a few months before we try it again. If it's still bad we'll wait a little more before going back, and on the third try if it's bad...we don't go back.

Because we used to go to the Taiko off of Sunrise (and I enjoyed it), I wanted to keep going to this Taiko over here. After 5 times of going, experiencing bad service, and so-so sushi, I've given Taiko more than enough tries IMO. If you really feel that Taiko has much to offer, I'll go one last time.

Mucho thanks for the tip about that place called Rice bowl - I've been looking for a restaurant around here that serves dim sum (at least til Fats opens...)

I have been to the Fats in Roseville and it was yet another very interesting experience. I feel that if you are going to work in a restaurant that serves something other than hamburgers (Asian, Mexican, Thai, etc). that you should at least learn how to pronounce the name of the dishes. Also, we had hair in 3 of the dishes we ordered, and the food tasted more American than Chinese...so to keep on the negative like this topic is supposed to be about (what's wrong with going off subject to suggest good places?) I won't go back to Fats...hair in food+ me seeing it = upchucking.

Pria Indidan Cusin. I went there once for their Buffet and it was by far the worst and most stale Indian food I have ever had. I KNOW my indian food and I felt the rice was a leftover from the previous day.

Thanks for the tip on Priya. I love Indian food and enjoy cooking it and have wondered about that restaurant. In general, I stay away from buffet-type restaurants, which tend to have overcooked, overly greasy food. Won't be going there.

P. S. I've yet to taste anything that tastes like Teriyake that comes from a restaurant with the name "Teriyaki" in it. The stuff is disgusting. I'd rather make my own Teriyaki marinade and stay home.

If you are talking about the place by Big 5, I've eaten there and I thought it was fine for cheap fast food.

We eat at Priya frequently. Two Indian women that I know have both told me that their food is good and very genuine.

For all you sushi lovers, my parents and I just got back from Naniha across the bridge...AWESEOME FOOD!!! They have so much stuff there that I haven't seen since I came back from Japan a few years back.

I recomend it to you guys. The waitresses are friendly, and the owner is a laugh as well. They've been open 3 months, and are planning on opening a private room in October where you can have your food cooked in front of you and have other Japanese foods that you don't see in many restaurants up here. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Here's a bad restaurant review.....

Went to Zinfindel Grill Friday night for our 20th wedding anniversary (something kept telling me I should have picked Cliff House instead...)

I was told Thursday when I called that I'd absolutely have to have reservations to get in Friday night - so I made them for 7pm

When we arrived the place was not even half full - guess that was bs about the reservations...

It took forever before we saw our waiter for the first time - about 15 minutes or so...

we ordered some wine and a blue cheese torte that arrived about another 15 minutes later - the appetizer was actually decent - it was the best part of our meal.

about another 15 minutes goes by and we get our order in. (seems like we've been there a long time already...) we ordered the crab fill manacotti and the meatloaf plate - both pricey but we're celebrating and hoping for an outstanding meal this evening.

at no time are we asked if we needed anything like drink refills.. so we sit and chat - the place is still half empty. About 20 minutes goes by - our patience is starting to wear thing a bit - no sign of the waiter at all the entire time- thank goodness we got water too and the guy refilling the water was on top of it at all times.

we notice that the people who were seated after us are already eating....thats kinda a pisser....where the heck is our waiter??? another 10 minutes and finally the food shows up....

the food - geeze, this is where it gets worse....I couldn't believe it - the manicotti was under cooked, the filling dry. the meatloaf was very overcooked and tasted nearly burned... we didnt' even finish half of the meal - it tasted that bad - I was really wishing we had gone somewhere else.... to make matters worse it took friggin forever for our damn waiter to come back and check on us so I could get the bill - it took him nearly 20 minutes to get me the check - at this point I had almost considered saying screw it and just leaving- the food was bad the service royally sucked

well after an eternity we finally got the bill paid - and I left a very well derved crummy tip and vow NEVER TO GO BACK TO ZINFINDEL GRILL AGAIN - that place sucked and was not worth the high price for such lousy food....we woulda had a better dinner even if it was just burgers at Yagers

on the bright side we went to Yagers afterwards for some drinks, desert and to watch the band and we had a great time there - it sure made up for the bad experience at Zinfindel's.

I had a similiar annivesary experience at The Cliff House a couple of years back. While the view is nice, the food stinks, especially the "calamari" (or should I call them for what they really seemed to be...Gorton's fish sticks?).

It's funny how many of us have had different experiences at the same restaurants. While Visconti's and the Cliff House sucked, I liked Terriyaki 2 Go and Priya (I'm an Indian food neophyte, so maybe I just don't know any better- sometimes ignorance is bliss).

I had a $30 gift certificate given to me for Zinfindel Grille. The service was horrible and the food was worst than the service. I have no idea how these establ;ishments such as Priya and Zinfindille Grille stay in business. The service for both are horrific and the food is not much better.

I think it is safe to say that we have all had bad experiences at local restaurants. One experience does not a bad restuarant make.

Everyone likes different things and hardly any restaurant is bad from everyone's POV...exept Indian food...YUCK!
