She was released with a catheter which came out a month later.

I know some folks around here have other war stories because in at least one case I know, someone's wife almost died during childbirth.

Maybe there aren't many childbirth 'war stories' around here, but I find that hard to believe.

What the heck was the catheter for? I don't know anyone who had a catheter for childbirth.

Had my child many moons ago at Kaiser Morse - great experience. One grandchild born at Kaiser Morse a year and half ago, and most recent grandchild at Mercy Folsom - great experiences - no complaints.

So what's with the catheter???

I really don't know any horror stories around here regarding childbirth. The only horror story I know is one that took place in Hawaii about 10 years ago. I woman with whom I had worked, gave birth to twins - normal pregnancy and delivery - went home, got very ill, went back to the hospital, ending up dying of an infection in the uterus. Apparently they didn't get all the placenta out. She left a husband with a 3 year old and newborn twins. They're doing well.

Inability to go due to a swollen and painful bladder. The catheter was removed during the actual pushing, then reinserted following childbirth, and removed the following day from what I observed.

With our 2nd, my wife was unaware that the catheter had been inserted awaiting childbirth, removed during childbirth, and reinserted following childbirth because she was numb from the waist down.

Matt Sundermeier (a great guy, and a co-worker) and his wife just delivered their daughter, Madeline, last Friday.

All are fine.

Please join me in welcoming them!

I have a personal horror story. I was almost dead during labor. Actually my parents though I was getting ready to die so they purchased a coffin for me. sad.gif . But here I am still. smile.gif

I did not know all of the details but hopefully one of these days I will ask my parents of what happened to me during labor.

If you're asking about producing more breast milk, try a beer a day (you can also use non-alcoholic if that concerns you). It really works miracles!

I don't think they've figured out what the beer ingredient is that produces more milk, may be fermentation of the grain or the hops.

I'm thinking because cows have multiple stomachs that the grain they eat may ferment enough to have the same effect.

Yes, seriously, try a beer a day (not you, but nursing mom) for a couple days and I'll bet you have increased production. I didn't like beer back when I nursed, but I drank it for the cause. It really does work.

Let us know what your success is with this.

Thanx Terry. I will try..... I mean she will have some non-alcohol beer.

(The next good move will be to get her to try the real-deal-alcohol beer!!!!!!!! mellow.gif )

Is he related to the Doctor...a son perhaps? If so, he must be pretty young.

Welcome to baby Madeline.
