I got a response back from Mr. Richards.....here it is:
I have read "myfolsom.com". I have read some things that concerned me because of the negative potential impact these anonymous comments might generate on our campus. I did not denigrate your website. I merely repeated warning I have received from concerned parents and law enforcement officers. Under the title of "Parent Caution", I suggested that parents might want to check on what their students are putting on their site and/or see what else is on that website.

Thank you for reading our PTSA newsletter.

Sincerely,

Paul J. Richards
Principal
He also cc'd Teresa Stanley'" <tstanleylaw@netzero.net but I'm not sure who that is.....anyone know?

I agree with the parental caution notice. Myfolsom.com has some interesting discussions, and some need the oversight of an adult.

Think about the poor kid who posted the pics of her baby guinea pig!

Sure - but surely not for high schoolers--- can you name a few topics ???
And CERTAINLY NOT to the extent of calling it DANGEROUS and " because
of the presence of predators that cruise these websites and the negative anonymous comments that are
made about and/or exchanged between students that have fueled rumors that lead to fights."

Well, unfortunately Myfolsom.com was lumped with myspace.com. I don't believe there are equal "dangers" there, but I do believe that parents can provide oversight on any and all websites visited by their children. Granted, high schoolers can be a little more independent, but why not use this forum for discussion of the issues between parents and their teens.

You assume all parents of teens are caring and provide oversight and guidance. That's not always true, and I think that's what this "caution" is. But then again, non-caring parents won't get a clue anyway.

It is dangerous, though not any more than myspace.

Ok people before blowing this way out of proportion, I would like to know specifics of what is so wrong with myfolsom before any of us make any conclusions. IE certain decussions, because the reponse from Mr.Richards is not specific and eventhough it is a warning to parents, clumping us with myspace is just uttterly ridiculus. (INSERT COW HERE) But getting back to reality I have been posting and reading for about a year and haven't seen anything that is detrimental to a teen's life to be brought up by a High school prinicpal.

These are probably one and the same. Judging by the email address, Mr. Richard has notified either the board president, his attorney, or both (assuming they are the same person.) CYA!!!

Teresa Stanley is a member of MyFolsom. She is the current President of the Folsom-Cordova Unified School District (http://www.fcusd.k12.ca.us/BoardWeb/ ) and is also a lawyer. She e-mailed the school principal, which is why he responded to her.

Teresa Stanley is a school board member and an attorney, but not Mr. Richard's attorney. I do divorce law and mediation, as well as estate planning/wills/trusts. I read and post on myfolsom.com, so when I read the Bulldog Times I questioned why Mr. Richard had concerns. He responded to me and copied me on letters to Barb and to Steve Heard.

No, Theresa practices law in a different field. She is on the school board, but won't be suing anyone here.

I'm glad the principal directed us to this site. I checked the teen forum, and the very first one in that section talks about some of the wonderful teens we have in this community. How can that be bad for the school?
