If you want the "Current" best burger in town you have to stop by Samuel Hornes Tavern and try the "Johnny Cash Burger"!

Bacon and Cheese and homemade BBQ Sauce with Bourbon and Espresso!

Everyone I've ever taken there has proclaimed: "This is the Best Burger in Folsom!"

That's just their opinion though - so try it for yourselves...

Really? really?? It sounds like total caloric overload / coma to me ;)

It's a serious caloric overload, especially when you have a side of chili cheese fries - but it's oh so good!

Since we have several new burger joints in town now I think it's time to revisit our best burger quest and try these new places out and compare them all.

We had a blast when we did this several years ago.

I had a chance to try Five Guys during a recent road trip. I wasn't favorably impressed. The burger is basically about the same quality as In-N-Out but they give you twice the food for twice the price, and the burger is richer, which turns out slimy. The default option is an enormous double, you have to ask for a "small" to get a single patty that's still larger than In-N-Out's. This strikes me as a probably clever enough business strategy to get people to pay more - who wants to be seen ordering a "small"?

Their fries were a lot better than In-N-Out's, but then so is a sharp poke with a stick.

I'm the opposite. I love five guys burgers but hate their fries. Though, I've become somewhat anti-fry these days.

I agree I'd relate them to similar quality at In-n-Out too, which I personally think is good, (you may think otherwise.)

They do serve very large portions at 5 Guys, one order of fries will be more then enough for two people. The fries may cost a bit more then McDonald's (etc) but you get a lot, and most importantly, they use fresh cut locally sourced potatoes for their fries, they're not frozen or potato based processed crap formed into fries.

I thought the prices were moderate, burgers range from $3.39 for a "little" hamburger to $5.89 for the baconcheeseburger. Fries will set you back an additional $2.69 or $3.59 depending onthe size. Considering what you get at the typical chain fast food places, IMO, FiveGuys is a winner.

I'm with you on that about the fries, they are not good for healthy eating. I didn't really like the garlic fries at Burgerocity but only because I thought they were over cooked, but I don't really like crispy fries but a lot of people do so that's probably just me.

My wife and I went to Burgerocity yesterday and this time I tried the sweet potato fries, those were excellent, much better then the fries IMO (and healthier). If they cut their fries the same way they cut the sweet potatoes I would like them a lot more. Great tasting fries are hard to come by.

I will say this, the fries at Five Guys were really good because 1) they're fresh locally grown potatoes but the biggest reason is 2) they cook their fries in peanut oil which IMO makes a huge difference in flavor.

I'll weigh in on the Five Guys vs. In-N-Out discussion. My vote is for In-N-Out. I think their beef is better quality and more flavorful, and their cheese is far tastier and it's perfectly thick and perfectly melted on the burger. A Double Double Animal Style can't be beat.

Five Guys has more variety of toppings, but I'm lukewarm on most of them. The green and jalapeno peppers aren't even cooked. What the heck?? I'm also not a fan of the smashed bun wrapped in foil. And I was shocked that Five Guys doesn't even serve milkshakes.

Five Guys burgers are still tasty, don't get me wrong, they are just not my favorite. They definitely have better fries. I order my In-N-Out fries "well done" which helps a lot though. Try it sometime.

I'm also not a fan of how Five Guys decorates the inside of their restaurants with an unbelievable amount of propaganda. Every inch of wall is a favorable newspaper review or other ad. Okay, I get it already. You think you're the best burger joint on earth. Sheesh.

I can't remember the last time I went out for a hamburger. But if I did, I wouldn't head to In-N-Out; what's up with using American "cheese?" BLECH!

I tried 5 Guys once while visiting family in Fresno. I thought it was good, but not any better than In N Out. I love In N Out burgers. The fries at 5 guys are better in my opinion. However, I have been staying away from fries lately. I will have to try out Burgerocity some time soon.

I'm with you on this one. I would rather have swiss on my burger. However most times I don't even have cheese on my burger.

are you sure they're locally grown potatoes? I didn't think there were any potatoes grown within two states of California. if they are advertising them that way, I'd like them to tell where they buy them from.

Went to Burgerocity yesterday and thought the burger was very good, but I was not a fan of the fries. I do really like Five Guys Burgers and their fries, but at almost twice the price of In-n-Out it ain't that much better (BTW, In-n-Out fries are only good if you order them well done).

The Five Guys that I went to, near Nellis AFB, NV, had potatoes from Idaho. Lots of them, bags stacked up make an aisle for the customers.
