What's the purpose of just quoting someone else?

Well, I don't see any previous posts...so I'm assuming the post isn't a "read this again, I already addressed that" kind of post...

He might just be new to a forum like this. Or he accidentally put the [ /quote] brackets at the end of the entire post instead of just the text that was SUPPOSED to be in a quote box.

In more recent news...I like pie.

More information at 11.

I've wondered that myself?

I think it might be a method for reiterating a position; showing support for that position? But that's just a guess.

I've noticed in a few other discussions the posting of a quote without a comment. This seems to be occurring with some new members to the forum. It might just be a learning curve issue, as Jester stated......Just another guess.

This sounds like a strange question... Of course you quote someone to reply to a certain sentence or thought... right? Maybe I am missing the point.

dailydos:

The general practice is to quote another member's post, or a portion of that post, in order to comment on it. To simply quote another post and make no comment does not make much sense. One can also simply add a reply to a discussion without quoting another member's post.

There are a number of ways to quote a previous post. It can be a little confusing. smile.gif Members can PM a moderator with any questions about the mechanics. They can also post a question in the Tech Support Forum.

11 came and went, and still no update on this breaking story?

I'm not a big pie fan myself, I prefer creamier things like chocolate mousse and creme brulee. I think pie is a very American aquired taste, one I've never really achieved in my 17 years of living here. Apple pie I find especially revolting.

Although Cherry pie is good. And Meat pies! Steak & Kidney Pie.. Mmm.

I think Cheesecake is an entirely different thing...there's lots of different kinds of cheesecake after all.
