I'll put that on my list of goals and as soon as I finish my sensitivity training classes, I'll start looking over their schedule. Maybe they play the Leathernecks again....me, you & Koz can do a road trip!

Koz,

Happy New Year!

I believe you were the one that started this thread about how the Big Ten was the best conference. I believe I previsouly pointed out that the Big Ten was overrated and that with the Bowl games we would see which conference was the best. So far the Big Ten is 2-4 against other teams and realistically could be 0-6.

Even though I am from the midwest, I'm sensing I don't have the emotional loyalties to the Big Ten that you may have. Therefore my opinion about the Big Ten may be just slightley more objective than yours. If the Big Ten was 5-1 or even 4-2 in bowl games and had dominated some games I would then be agreeing with your assessment about the Big Ten.

Yesterday was the first time I have seen the Badgers play this season. The Badgers Coach acknowledged that they didn't play very well, but they did indeed do what they had to do to win the game.

I tend to try and deal with realities rather than emotions, although I'm guilty of rooting for Boise State and as Cal stated they probably really aren't the best team in the country. So if pointing out to you that the Big Ten is 2-4 in Bowl games and haven't really dominated any bowl game yet, makes me the most negative person you have ever run into....I not going to attempt to persuade you otherwise.

Since I don't belive we have ever met, I don't know you well enough to form an opinion about you. Rest assured, even if I did I wouldn't share it publically.

I hope the rest of the Bowl games are entertaining.

Bob...

Somehow I knew that you couldn't come on this board and say... congrats to the Badgers. They won their bowl game against a good opponent. Nope... it took you about 24 hours to turn the thing into a negative. You used excuses like... the Badgers got lucky to get a 52 yard field goal while Arkansas missed a 30 yard field goal. Another excuse was injuries. Then you gave an excuse of dropped passes and interceptions. Give me a break Bob.

Then you proclaim that Boise State is at least number 2 in the nation. We don't necessarily know if Adrian Peterson was at 100 percent after his injury earlier this year. Where are your excuses for Oklahoma??? You will give Arkansas an excuse because Darren McFadden wasn't at 100 percent... and that's one reason why Wisconsin won. Which one is it Bob? You seem to contradict yourself.

Using your logic that conference bowl records are ALL that count on how good a conference is... the following conferences are the best in the nation.

1) Big East... 3-0 (2 left)
2) Mountain West... 3-1 (0 left)
3) Western Athletic... 3-1 (0 left)

You might want to use different logic... and stop with the excuses. They played the game... the Badgers won... and your are still sore. Deep down... you were rooting for the Razorbacks... so you could come on here and gloat. Well guess what Bob... you can't! Too bad.

Since football is winding down... do you want to start in on Wisconsin basketball. I am sure you could find something negative to say there as well.

I'll say it for him. Congrats Badgers on a great season. You deserve a ranking in the top 6 in the nation.
And by the way, U. or Wisconsin has a very good basketball team too.

Robert, I have always liked the Big 10. Being from Michigan I am partial to them.

The game against USC in the Rose Bowl reminded me that for some reason the quarterbacks no longer (the majority of them) roll out. They go back and set in the pocked and hope the offensive line can hold back the oncoming players.

What ever happened to the roll out and throwing on the run? You just don't see if much anymore.

Koz,

You are taking this way to personnally.

Wisconsin won the game, fair & square. They did what they needed to do to win the game ( I said that twice before). I was impressed with their quarterback ( I said that before also).

IMHO, neither team played very well, so I wasn't overly impressed with either team's preformance. Drop passes, dropped interceptions, too many penalties ( Arkansas had 12), missed short field goal and a blocked punt are examples of a game that isn't well played. The Badger head coach acknowledged they didn't play well....I think this indicates good character on his part and with him they should continue to be successful. I think replacing their quarterback will be more challenging than some estimate.

I watched the game to see for myself how good the Badgers/ Big Ten are/were primarily as a result of this post where you proclaimed them the best conference. My experience was that they ( Big 10) are over rated in Football. I had been saying all along we can just add up the bowl records and then decide who is the best conference. ( I admit, I thought both Arkansas and Tenessee would win, so don't bet on my advice!)

Today, I don't know which is toughest conference in football. I thought it might be the SEC or Pac 10. Today, It would be difficult to try and convince anyone else they are. I'm convinced it isn't the Big 10, they have only won 2 bowl games. They are realistically a few plays away from being 0-6.

Do you still feel the Big !0 is the best conference in football? If you don't mind why or why not?

BTW, I saw some of the Badger/Marquette BB game. I was impressed in the way the Badger guards disrupted the Marquette offensive game. I've tried to watch Duke ( Demarcus Nelson) and CAL ( Ryan Anderson) as my son played against them and they are local.

They play Fresno in 2008. This family will be there! I'm also thinking about trying to swing the UW/Michigan game in 2007.

Did you resolve in 2007 to listen and agree with really, incredibly, undeniably intellient people?

Bob --

Since when did hitting a record 52-yard field goal turn into something lackluster and missing a simple 30-yarder turn into no big deal? Yes, I admit that I'm biased on the teams here, but I think any team that can't hit a 30-yarder during a bowl game doesn't deserve to win. Conversely, if you can read that your offensive line is having a hard time holding back the defense and can not only switch to a formerly lukewarm passing game and make it work, but also pull out a record field goal, I think that team deserves the win.

Cw,

You Too?

Maybe John will have to impose a ban on anyone saying anything factual regarding the Badgers.

I know you are an an Alumni of the Badgers....so I'll try and be sensitive.

I don't have any emotional loyalties to the Badgers or the Hogs. The Badgers won the game fair & square, did what they had to do to win the game. I don't know what game you were watching, but the Hogs outgained the Badgers nearly 2 to 1. The Badgers had NEGATIVE 4 yards rushing and only 1 first down rushing.

When was the last time anyone saw a team win a major Bowl game with negative yards rushing and getting outgained nearly 2 to 1?

I tip my hat to the Badgers, they did what they needed to win the game. Their QB is a winner and made 2 perfect throws for TD's. ( they will miss him next year) Their coach showed lots of class by acknowledging the Badgers didn't play well ( indirectly acknowledging they were outplayed). IMHO, the Badgers are in good shape for the future with that kind of leadership!

I know I have a better chance at getting Hamas to make peace with their neighbors in the Middle East, than I do of getting you & Koz to recognize that the despite winning the game, the Badgers were outplayed.

IMHO, after watching the Badgers for the first time, coupled with their cream puff non conference schedule and finishing 3rd in the Big 10 ( without playing the best team), its hard for me to consider them as one of the TOP teams in the country.

The original topic of this post was about the Big Ten being the best conference in football....but I believe based upon their 2-4 record and rather lackluster showing in the 2 games they won, it will be hard to agree with that.

Its nothing personal against you & Koz! I'm willing to drive to Vegas next season on 9-8 for a road trip, I might even wear red.

BTW, my HS fight song was "On Wisconsin"...so I do know the words!

Bob...

You love to point out the Badgers schedule... which I'll admit wasn't the strongest in the nation. However... you jump on the Boise State band wagon saying they are at least the number 2 team in the country. Well... looking at unbiased stats-based strength of schedule... Wisconsin was 84 while Boise State was 100. Do you still think Boise State deserves number 2... since you don't think Wisconsin should be in the top 10?

http://www.usatoday....garin/fbt06.htm

You want to re-think your new found love of Boise State???
