It's that time again! The bracket group is now active for the 2009 tourney. As discussed last year, I'll probably tweak the scoring to give some weight to later rounds. I think there was an option to add a round multiplier.

Yeah, I think the latter rounds should be worth more. I would have won last year if that had been the case!

I changed the scoring. I asked a couple friends that do money brackets and they all said that they score the brackets the following way:

1st Rd: 2 + seed
2nd Rd: 4 + seed
3rd Rd: 8 + seed
4th Rd: 16 + seed
5th Rd: 32 + seed
Final: 64 + seed

Yay. That's how I always did it when I ran the brackets. Thx Ken!

so if you choose all #1s and go with the flow, you are in good shape? I understand why you did this, but I loved the unpredictibility aspect of last year. I mean I went from last place to first place, I don't know how. But it sure was very unpredictable.

You keep saying "unpredictable". Last year, you got points equal to the seed of the team that won. If you picked some low seeds that went far, then you would jump ahead in the later rounds. That is still true with the new scoring, but you also get rewarded for picking overall winners.

Picking all #1s only works if they all go far. In general, correctly picking the Final Four and above puts you in good shape.

Arrrrrgh.. Work filters will not allow me to go to ANY sports site. Now I am just at the mercy of the yahoo home page which ONLY shows some final scores.

First round down, 1st place baby! I didn't have any of my missed picks going farther than the first round. All my picks are still intact. smile.gif

IF North Carolina wins it all, I can see the standings go upside down. I LOVE the unpredictibility of it all even though there is not a real cinderlla out there and no major upsets thus far.
Anyone can take the crown this year as Myfolsom.com 2009 champion.

I really like Coach Tom Izzo. He is a classic case of taking average players and getting extraordinary results.

I can't wait till this crap is over and my TV returns to normal scheduling of the shows I want to watch.
I would rather be Backpacking

If it wasn't such a HUGE hit with advertisers, you would have your normal TV lineup. Its all about the $$$$.
The highest bidder wins.

This may be true, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. At least the Sci-Fi channel was running Enterprise reruns last night.

I just can't wait till on demand everything via internet TV. YOu watch anything, anytime, LIVE and Free.

Frget aboyut paying for 150 channles, when you truly only need 12. This will eliminate all the crap. Let the market forces decide what is good. There was some talk about ala carte TV so I am curious to see what happnes with that.
