How'd I miss this one?

I think more and more liberals are moving here, and more and more conservatives are realizing that some conservative policies do more harm than good, and are 'liberaling up'. Of course, they won't admit it.

Hey come on, that's not fair.

bellaj,

I think if you let your political ideology define your life, it will be difficult for you to find happiness anywhere.

I agree. There are far more important things to worry about. How about if there is drugs, gangs, etc...?

Right, we agree. That's why I'm looking for a place with a diversity of viewpoints.

I think you found it. Now on to finding that perfect home for you. Have you settled on what side of Folsom Auburn you are looking at? There are some beautiful homes in Folsom.

So if this wasn't a compliment, was it intended to be demeaning?

If it was intended to be demeaning then maybe your post indicating I was the only one posting demeaning things is incorrect....unless being accurate isn't important to you.

it was just a simple question asking how the weather was up there. course I'm just assuming that you're high up there in your lofty position based on the way you look down on people who don't think just like you. just an observation, but obviously I wasn't the only one who noticed it, so I can't be that far off base.

not yet, though we've been leaning towards ARCN if we move to Folsom.

Well there is only one elementary school on that side of the river. So your kids will attend Carl Sundahl-then Sutter Middle School -and then Folsom High.

ARC has a small shopping area which is a little over priced but convenient. The hills make it hard for kids to go out side and play (at least I think that's why you don't see too many kids playing outside) but Folsom has a huge variety of sports for children. Some in the community actually take the kids baseball and soccer teams to an all time serious-level (we actually have a full day parade for opening season for baseball in Folsom)-however the amount of involvement in the quality of life for children here is quite high. That may be why Folsom really doesn't have a lot of really obese kids? Anyway, the great part about the park and rec in Folsom is that your children will get to know a good deal of other kids before they enter middle school. That means middle school is not so scary to them. Folsom really is a community.

One thing to remember is that the things discussed on this forum is just a small slice of opinions of folsomites. Also, most people would not talk to other people the way they do on these threads because the internet tends to let people have a sense of 'protection' from embarrassment or impropriety or even just a certain comfort level they would never cross when talking to someone face-to-face. So don't feel too overwhelmed by what's what. smile.gif

there is a simple test that helps determine how liberal a location is.....count the number of volvos (and possibly hybrids now) on the road. this works every time.

the good thing about GB is that they have the new quarry pond complex. now that is a cool complex! sort of a ferry building thing. that is what I wish we would have on sutter street.

do you know anything about the La Collina del Lago development? I think it's up near Briggs Ranch. We like some homes in there too.

I'm starting to get persuaded that Folsom would be better than GB; it seems like there are more families here with small children (babies & toddlers) than in GB

Bellaj,
if you can afford GB, I say move there. I think you would enjoy it more. There seems to be a lot of irritation in Folsom between the conservatives and liberals. GB really wasn't a town before people started moving there and there is no center of town. With that comes a lack of groups that feel they own the place, other than the GB PAC. I think that's an asset really.

GB will blossom into an upscale community, while Folsom (as nice as it is) will probably become another upper middle class bedroom community. GB has larger lots, more custom homes, fewer mass produced subdivisions. That indicates more wealth and better education overall.

okay, folks, fire at will. I'm trying to be objective, but these are, of course, only my humble opinions.

Your entitled to your observations/beliefs as much as anyone here including myself.

There is that possibility you could be wrong about me and just maybe I'm more openminded than those who disagree with me, after all I am the one who supports your right and others to disgaree with me without judging you and you are the one applying a label to me without knowing me.

I think ARCN is the best of both worlds. You get the quiet central location (to sac, roseville and central and old folsom) along with the backing of the city of folsom (parks&rec, utilities, etc.) without the negatives of Orangevale or high cost, uppity residents, and decentralized nature of GB.

WTF ? Uppity residents? Never saw that while living there. Did however see a lot of envy from outside GB. I like the small intense compacted 'modern homes' and the semi-sized horse properties. GB is comfy- not uppity.

The few current GB residents I've met have had a bit of a holier than thou attitude. Probably doesn't apply to them all, but I haven't met that many.

This is a red city in a middle of the road county.... and on some days... I get real red and will pull out the old "stars and bars" and fly it on my boat when I'm out there on the lake.....

I'm sure what EDF here meant to say was "stars and stripes". Funny thing actually, since the "stars and bars" was the name of a flag used by a largely Democrat, pro-slavery, anti-American government insurgency movement of the second half of the 19th century. It fell into disuse after about 1865 somewhat, and today, outside of a few historical re-enactor types, the only people who really use it are skinheads and people in the Kla... oh. Umm... well.

This is awkward.

Well. Nevermind about all that silly history stuff. You'll love Granite Bay. Get a place by the lake. On a clear day you can see the Confederate Navy!
