Um, FREAKING LUNCH TIME? how do I buy a lunch special when it's not lunch time when they aren't supposed to serve the lunch special at non lunch times?

11:45. There.

By the way 8.20$ doesn't fit into the category of 6.95 or 9.75, I guess you didn't make that deduction..

Did you ask your server or the owner of T2Yan about the $8.20 charge? I would.
Complaining/Whining on MyFolsom.com wouldn't do ya any good.

Disagree. You wrong. A so-so restaurant. Not a good asset to City. You wrong.

ChipShot,
I did NOT say T2Yan has the best Chinese food in town . I also did not say T2Yan is a good asset for the city of Folsom.
I did and still say that PF Chang is the Best Chinese Restaurant in the Sacramento Region and that T2Yan is a GREAT asset to the city of Folsom.

Here is why I honestly believe T2Yan is a GREAT asset to the city of Folsom:

*A nice small joint with a pleasant atmosphere. This place used to be a dump (Golden Lake).
*Servers seem to be friendly/nice folks
*The owner seems to be genuine and care about his food service and customers. I understood Mr. Yan used to have a professional career with the Consumer Affairs for the state of CA.

My personal description for T2Yan: "Decent ehtnic food with no attitude

Note: T2Yan has some dishes for Asian clientele: Bitter Melon, Ong Choi, Chinese Broccoli, Salted Fish Chicken Fried Rice, Live Crab/Live Lobster.
If you are adventurous, try them. The nearest places to find these dishes are in South Sacramento.
Wanna order Bitter Melon at China House? They will tell ya” not in season”.
Ong Choi at Sunny Garden? They will also tell ya “not in season”.

Merely a suggestion for ChipShot:
*If you don’t like Chinese, don’t eat Chinese food. Don’t go to any Chinese restaurants in Folsom because all of them are owned by Chinese except Pei Wei.
*Don’t go to any Sushi Restaurants because owners are either Japanese, Chinese, Korean or Vietnamese.
*Don’t go to O’Brot because the owners are Russians
*Don’t go to Pho Bac Hoa Viet, Great Wraps, or Java Folsom (Wales Dr., Raleys center), owners are Vietnamese.
*La Bou in Folsom Square, owner is filippino.
*Pita Pita, owner is Lebanese
*Heart of Europe, owners are from Czech Republic
*Mexican places, owners are Mexicans
...and many many more...

If you, ChipShot, feel that you are such a special “Lily White” and would like to find a special place just for you to live…my suggestion is Midland, Texas, George Walker Bush’s Hometown.

Did you ever think I would like to let the people that read this forum know?

Complaining/Whining about Complaining/Whining on MyFolsom.com wouldn't do anyone any good.

We tried T2 Yan on Friday...take out. It was good. Not close to as good as Jennie's but it was still good. The best thing was probably the crab rangoon fried wonton thingy. YUM! We got the combo meal with Pot Stickers, Egg Rolls, Pork Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein, and Sweet n Sour Pork and the Crab Rangoon. It was all pretty good. I'll probably go back there again since it's probably the closest chinese to our house.

What this thread continually proves is that food is a matter of taste (pardon the pun).

I tried Jennie's once or twice and was disappointed. Others loved the joint.

What you ordered made me think of my Chinese brother in law. When I first met him about 25 years ago, we were talking Chinese food.

He said most that despite the large scale of most Chinese menus, most Americans stick with what they call the 'Amereican menu' or the 'American plate'. It usually consists of egg rolls, pot stickers, fried rice, chow mein, sweet and sour pork, cashew chicken (or orange, lemon, or Generals) and beef and broccoli.

He named just about all the Chinese dishes I liked.

I was encouraged to try different things, and not only have I really enjoyed doing so, I have discovered that those dishes on the American plate are pretty much the same from place to place.

Went there again and convinced my wife to be experimental.

The Crab meat & Shark fin soup was awesome as well as the Peking Duck.
I would rather be Backpacking

Went today for lunch. Very under impressed. To me it was similar to China House. Nice heavy sauce. My parents had the fried race and said there was still some raw rice. The soup before the meal was good though.

Another thing I disliked is that they only served a fork. No spoon or knife. I like having a spoon for dropping ice cubes in the kids hot tea (lord, they love tea!!). And I can't get over the lack of a knife at the table. I wanted every drop of my mushu--but finger pushing rice onto a fork is gross.

I haven't read thru all the posts so don't know if this was answered yet.

Instead of "pushing" the rice onto your fork, just squash the rice down with your fork and it sticks to it.

Also, you can use a clean fork to fish the ice out of your water and put it into the hot tea.

I agree Steve, as a Bay Area transplant I was pretty spoiled. I had heard great things about Jennie's but after the third dissapointing visit, I gave up hope of finding a great chinese restaurant in Folsom. My husband and I do frequent Pho Bac Hoa Viet, but that's as close as we got. We tried T2 Yan last night and were in agreement that it was solid- not earth shattering- but good solid chinese food. The best we've had in Folsom to date. We'll be back.

New Hong Kong Wok on Freeport. Best Chinese food I've had since coming back from China.

Tried it today. Loved it!
The service was great.
We'll definitely be back.
Never cared for Jennie's either.

My parents took my wife and I to lunch at T2Yan today. We all enjoyed it very much. Great service, great food. Chatted for a while with Yan. Great guy. We will definitely be back.

Well, while your slapping Chipshot around--I thought I'd go ahead and check to see if any real estate is open in Midland, Texas.

Guess what?

Nary a dang parcel.

All owned by Saudis.

Sorry, Chip---guess you can't move there either lmaosmiley.gif

Perhaps ChipShot can buy out the Saudis.
Good Luck!
