I've met him every time I've been there and he was a very nice guy and made the dining experience all the better. Heck he was even helping out more then the waitresses.
and I didn't even like that place as much as Taiko...
not being mean or nothing, but do you have something against Koreans?

My husband and I have been customers of his for about seven years now, since his Elk Grove location opened. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT. He is the only restaurant owner I've come across who gets up and greets every single guest - even if they look like they'll only drink the water and use the bathroom. He's quick to make things right if something didn't come quite the way you wanted or expected - even if YOU ordered it wrong yourself!!!! I've actually never seen someone leave unhappy. This guy also really knows his fish. He'll tell you all about where he orders his fish and why he pays extra for quality when he could otherwise get away with cheaper stuff on probably half his client el. The sushi chefs are SUPER nice and are always trying to strike up conversation with you if it's slow and occasionally let you try samples if available.
Different ethnicities can't be experts of food from different regions? Pretty dumb statement, especially since fish IS a large part of their complex cuisine. Double stupid. I guess that means Julia Child was a useless French cook because she was born in the states and Emeril Lagasse can't cook Cajun cuisine because he's from Massachusetts.
On the general service, it's just always been great there even on busy nights. As far as ambiance, the place has some laid back and fun features to the inside of the restaurant and I guess doesn't look like "La bu" in Vegas, but is far from a hole in the wall rating you gave it...by a LONG shot. Shoot, that pizza place "Zelda's" that everyone loves looks like it should be condemned but it still packed on weeknights and people wait hours for a pizza.
If that guy was serving sushi out of his garage I'd eat it.

Going to get the Ichiban and some other selection and I'm looking forward to trying their Sushi.
