I've made more than 5,500 posts on MyFolsom, most of which before I was a mod, and in all those posts only 1 was ever censored, of which I explained my position in a PM to the mod, and it was resolved amicably, and I reposted the original message.

I'm sure many of my posts have seemed insulting to people (as is par for the course when discussing things such as politics and religion) and on many occasions I'm sure users wish I would be censored, but apart from one instance several years ago it's simply never happened.

If you conduct yourself as an adult and treat others with respect, moderation will occur extremely rarely if ever. If however, you come here to whine, directly insult, post profanity or otherwise cause trouble, then expect to be moderated occasionally.

Personally, I've probably deleted fewer than 10 non-spam posts in the last couple of years and probably edited perhaps twice as many to remove insults or foul language.

John has done an excellent job running the site, keep up the good work man!

You bring up an excellent point, bish. Up until the last two weeks, the vast majority of any censorship on this forum has been the deletion of spam. Sadly, the tide has recently turned.

As stacycam mentioned, davburr has invited those who want unfettered posting to visit "the other forum." No one is limited to MyFolsom. The worldwide web is a big place.

John works hard to keep a respectful and neighborly spirit on MyFolsom. Thank you!

for the most part in my month or so in the forum I would have to say that there is a reasonable exchange of ideas. What bothers me is the seemingly indiscriminate censorchip that seems to be applied in a haphazard fashion. I have had offensive language and name calling thrown my way, but instead of whining to a mod I eitehr ignore it or take the person on directly. I have thrown out some tweeks just to rattle a couple posters as they sometimes get on my nerves(as I am sure I have on their nerves)...but to see someone banned due to a pix of Scarlet ....come on man...that is just wrong. She is the embodiment of femininity. If someone here is appauled by the female form(and not even unclothed form) they have taken being a prude to new heights. IMHO

nice to know where the stones are

sometimes you just got to walk the line and understand your man who is in charge and that he is just trying to keep this place from falling apart one piece at a time.

I can understand a need for proper decorum...but to ban someone for Scarlet? that's just wrong. Must be her form isn't of his/her taste..... no one's been banned for Billary pix....that must be more along the lines of proper eye candy(not in my eyes...I am going to have to rinse my brain with chlorox for even saying that)

Chuckles...I am surprised your Hawaiian Good luck sign avatar hasn't gotten the boot so far. I find it humorous...but some here are sharpening their knives as we speak.

I noticed that, and I hope you guys aren't blaming me - I don't play those games and until you mentioned it earlier, I haven't brought up my forum either

as you can see by the number of my posts - and my status under the top 20 posters, I obviously like this place, even with the censorship. sure I created another site where there is zero censorship, but there's plenty of room for both on the world wide web and if someone has issues here with moderation they're welcome to come check my place out - but I in now way whatsoever want to detract from this place - hopefully you can see that I post here more then I post there.

I like you guys and gals, that should be a given by my presence here

and I absolutely respect John and think he's done a fine job here.

if you guys ever have a problem with me, you can ban me

Oddly enough things on that forum are a lot less... strident.

I, for one, have absolutely NO problems with you. I think it's great that there is another forum where people can go if they aren't happy with the administration here.

I'm just looking forward to when all this b.s. wears out.

Nobody's blaming davburr, bish was just pointing out that there are other forums out there if you really feel unwelcome here.

I don't really think it's much of an issue. One person has a beef with me for some reason and finds it humorous to create multiple ID's and try to create some sense of conflict on the forums, when in fact, there really is none.

I wonder if these posters come in waves. I remember there were a rash of annoying posters for a while. They went away and everything was back to semi-normal.

Maybe it's somebody's New Year's resolution to be a jerk. By Feburary, the resolutions would be broken and they won't return.

does the city council delete your thoughts and ideas if they aren't in line with their thoughts and ideas?

I honestly can't believe a forum deletes threads that are not in line with what the mods believe should be true. it's not a freaking utopia, it's a FORUM, a place to share ideas, not censor them.

forum - an assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions.

many of you long timers have said, 'if you don't like it, leave'

that's such a piss poor attitude. What if your thoughts are deleted? they may not be now, but once the censorship starts, it's hard to stop. I was recently on another forum that banned people for posting things that were not in line with the beliefs of 3 people. that forum is in disarray and may not make it.

mods - think before you act. banning people and deleting items just because you think you should is as bad for the forum as the perceived immaturity that has been discussed.
you think you might be adding fuel to the fire each time you delete something?

I hope this is seen before it's deleted.

There, this has been seen before it's deleted.

I really don't get the need to whine. You won't respect my opinion because I've been on this board for a while, but I'm going to give it anyway. I've only had a few instances in all these years where I felt maybe someone's post was unnecessarily deleted. It's been so long I can't even remember what it was about, which should show that it's not as rampant as you are portraying.

Thank you, John, for offering a place for Folsomites to chat. Sorry about the ape humor. We're all really trying to cut down.

whine? I'm discussing censorship of public opinion and you consider that whining?
this 5 page thread is about people whining. give me a break.

I'm not attempting to portray anything rampant, but if an opinionated post is deleted, it's censorship. I certainly respect your opinion. I respect all opinions, especially those that are not censored.
sheep can be sheep, but I honestly cannot believe that anyone feels it is acceptable to delete another mans post, especially if there are no personal attacks or obscene items.

Hi - I'm new here. for the record, I am not:

this list will continue to grow as I am accused of being someone else.
Maybe someday I can take part in the FolsomFun of trying to determine the imposters!

Well, as an example, you have set yourself up to be deleted on the local politics board because your post has nothing to do with the subject of the city council meeting. That in and of itself would be the reason that post would be deleted. That is why I responded to it under this heading because it seemed more appropriate and so you wouldn't think there was some great conspiracy.

I'm sorry I said "whine." It's just that it's hard to see John unjustly catching a lot of flak for other people who seem to have nothing better to do than dig up trouble.
