It's called composure. Stating that she wants her daughter home safe and being emotional is one thing, but making up allegations is not cool, unless of course there was reason for this.

I doubt few of us would be "cool" if one of our kids were gone. That's all I'm saying.

Thank you, CW.
Chris V, I seriously doubt if, God forbid, any of our children were abducted and held for almost 8 days, that we would be composed. I would worry about someone who was.

But I am so glad she is safe!

Crying and begging for your kid back is one thing... I'd freak out too!! But in NO WAY would I CLAIM:
"We honestly believe that Kacie is being held against her will, possibly even being drugged, and no doubt is being exploited sexually".
With out a real reason.... MAYBE she had one, MAYBE the boy said something else we don't know about.... But CLAIMING you think something, as if it were a detail you know, but no one else does..... ???

I agree- as a parent I really don't know how I would react nor do most of the parents on here. Overreact --I bet almost all of us would if in the same situation. The deal is she is home, safe and that is all that matters.
Also Thanks EDH Jen for bringing this situation to light on the forum as it really did get the word out there and peoples thoughts and prayers are what helped I believe bring her home safely

I think you're wrong to criticize a frantic and distraught mother whose child is missing. Again, you can thank God you've never been in her shoes.
I may have made an error in judgement sharing what I did with this Forum, since it now seems to be a place to judge and second-guess how this was handled. The family reached out to me, and I reached out to all of you in an effort to help - not to provide an opportunity for 'detached' people to criticize this family.

It's easy for us to sit here and be Monday morning quarterbacks, but I don't think that's our place. Who knows why she said what she did. Maybe she was sleep deprived and had a dream and thought it was real. Maybe the boy did same something. Maybe she was just freaked out and going crazy. Maybe she was just lying. I don't know, but it's not my place to be judging how she should have been acting. Instead I find my place to be feeling incredibly happy that her daughter is home and not dead. That's about where I'm leaving it.

Don't think you made any errors (you didn't) - not all of us are judgemental and vastly critical of others
You did good and it sure did make every single person here aware that she was missing

WTF!? their daughter was missing!, if you were in the same predicament - assuming you have a heart, you'd be doing everything humanly possible to find her, even if it did turn out she ran away on her own.

IMHO, the non-urgency of the police is a telling sign that they possibly knew more and weren't as quick to react to this as a worst case scenario and in the end they were right.

Why apologize??? Apologize to who for what?? They did what any NORMAL SCARED PARENT would do rely on their friends and neighbors to help get the word out... Regardless if she ran away or not a child missing for 8 days is just that MISSING for 8 days.
