I don't know how you guys feel about hot dogs and sausages. If you've ever been to Top Dog in Berkeley, I think you'll agree that we could use one here.

Yea, you're right. Excellent stuff but quite a bit of food. But you eat too much because it is good food. And it's a cool idea --- some of these places (all?) you pay by weight, not per serving.
I'm thinking a monthly rotation: Brazilian BBQ, Famous Dave's, Incahoots, Lucille's. Repeat.

Speaking of cool ideas, I went to Thailand a long time ago and one of the most creative, awesome ideas I've experienced for a restaurant:
You enter the 'restaurant' and it's like a supermarket (ie - like Raley's or Nugget). You select your ingredients (ie - seafood, meats, veggies, fruit, etc). You check out. Then you give all the food to one of the chefs behind the cashiers and either tell them how to cook it or have them cook it as they feel best. Awesome, awesome experience. I actually wrote a business plan on it -- turns out, much too expensive for the US market.

sounds good to me - already got started... did Lucille's last week, and Incahoots this past weekend
I'm very glad to hear that you know about Incahoots - that's a hidden gem in Plymouth that very few people seem to know about

I haven't tried that but there is a Parkers in Roseville that's pretty good. The best place is Happy Hound but its in the bay area.

On the food subject...anyone know where to get super yummy authentic carne asada tacos with just a bit of onions and cilantro on top and they give you hot sauce in a container and a lemon to squeeze on top?? I've been craving some but the best ones I know of are in San Jose...too farrrrrrrr.

Is this anything like the Santa Cruz Hotdogs place that was in the Walmart complex that went out of business? $7 for a hotdog doesn't cut it in any town!

I did Incahoots this past week too.
There's also a restaurant called Taste(?) that's supposed to be very good. Every try it? Haven't been yet but anxious to go.

I've heard lots of very good things about Taste, but alas I have not dined there yet...
I usually am only in that area when I'm out on a motorcycle ride

The Ravine also has some really good sausages and hot dogs right now - went there for lunch the other day and the kobe beef dog was very good!

A good cajun/creole spot. Heck, I'd even start a crawfish farm to supply the place...
authentic BBQ in town (yes, I know there are some "close" but now that a gallon of gas is $4, close doesn't cut it

a real kosher deli. Or an extraordinary italian deli.
And a caribbean joint. Jerk chicken, yummy chutneys. Maybe the brazilian BBQ would be a close runner up, so I'll throw my support toward that since its been mentioned.
I am thinking that after the Great Restaraunt Collapse of Folsom which we are in the midst of, there will be room for new, interesting, and service-oriented places.
But to be honest, I really don't think the average Folsomite's palate is tuned to anything more exciting than pizza, burgers, and an occasional burrito. Preferrably chain-store versions.
Even the hotdog joint joint over by walmart closed down 2 years ago.

Yes, its the same chain, but it's not $7 a dog. Most dogs are under $4. http://www.parkershotdogs.com I love the natural casings. Yum yum.

Yup, I think you are right. My husband suggested a happy hour at Manderes, and he was overruled. They are going to BJ's.
