The Folsom Powerhouse is a good, and expanding, tourist attraction with a 'simple' name.
Why can't the Folsom Dam be one? This bridge will have an awesome view of the Dam, which protects the entire valley, generates 10% of our power, holds back the lake, previously bridged our community, is under constant terrorist threat, is currently undergoing a many-million dollar 200-year flood retrofit, and whose closing is the very REASON we built this bridge in the first place! I, for one, am way more interested in touring the many parts and history of the Dam than of remembering Johnny Cash (I've seen the movie).
I just can't understand why Folsom Dam Bridge is a bad idea?
I can, however, poke holes in the other categories:
1. Folsom Lake - Does not bridge the lake.
2. Johnny Cash - Pop star who drove through 40 years ago, not affiliated with Folsom besides guessing on our prison name.
3. Granite City - Too much like Granite Bay, but this is my second choice from a Historical nod perspective.
Have you been to the Folsom Powerhouse tourist attraction yet? - and by that I don't mean the cougar den powerhouse...
I understand you're rationale, but for me I think this is a good opportunity for the city to market our name and bring in more tourist interest. I know you guys aren't into music as much as others, but a name such as Johnny Cash is a big draw... that's all I'm trying to say... at this stage our votes are in, its up to the city council now to make the final decision....
my thoughts...just opinions..
1. Folsom Lake - Does not bridge the lake....
and its a mediocre boring name..
2. Johnny Cash - Pop star who drove through 40 years ago, not affiliated with Folsom besides guessing on our prison name....
he didn't guess the name ya dork, but he did make Folsom famous with his song and millions of people all over the world know of the town of Folsom primarily because of Johnny Cash and that song3. Granite City -
Too much like Granite Bay, but this is my second choice from a Historical nod perspective.
but it's still too much like granite bay and hardly anyone would equate that name to Folsom's history.
