Darth not all of the Parkway residents are snobs......most of the them are just sheep who feel safer in a neighborhood where conformity is enforced....

Oh, please! It never ceases to amaze me how many people seem to believe that they know the motivations behind other people's choices.

First of all, I am a mom, I drive a honda, never had a bon bon, not a big martini fan, my kid doesn't play soccer, and I do not live in ER or the Parkway. however, I did recieve this update from a firend of mine regarding the van--so, for the paretn son this board who may like to know, here it is...

This is in addition to the email that went out to some of you this morning. At approximately 11:35am I saw a suspicious white van driving up Parkway drive from the first roundabout past Kidder. They stopped at the roundabout and looked right down Parkway Drive. When I was going around the roundabout I noticed the van door (on the right side) was all the way open. I could see a hand holding onto the door jam, as though the passenger was sitting in the back holding on to the door that was open. They were driving very slow and waved me to go around them. I looked directly at the person driving. He was an older gentleman, maybe in his mid 50's or 60's. He had what I remember as darker hair with some grey or lighter color in it. He was wearing a white t-shirt. I drove very slow and kept me close behind me because I wanted to see if he drove out of the parkway. I got to the light at Blue Ravine and he was no longer behind me. I have reported the incident to the Folsom PD. PLEASE be aware of this van in our neighborhood and report it IMMEDIATELY to the police. I wish I would have been aware of the incident yesterday when I saw the van this morning.

I really hope not to be attacked for passing this info along to other parents who have to safeguard their children every single day.

It's become an epidemic around here!! tongue.gif

Thank God we have Chip to tell us nobody knows what they're talking about and what law enforcement needs. <rolling eyes and making jerking motion in the air>
We all dream of a world of sunshine and rainbows and peace. The problem is some people think this would be a great place to live, while others think it would be a great place to pillage.

Thanks for the additional info.

It isn't just parents who need to keep their children safe; we all need to try and help each other stay safe if we can. Let others know if there is suspicious activity in your neighborhood--or anywhere else. Predators don't always just go after children. Others (such as young women) could be a target as well.

I moved into Parkway 'coz the schools were good, nice trails close by...looks like a clean 'hood, lots of kids running and playing around on the streets in a carefree way.

I moved to Folsom before the Parkway, but if I hadn't, I would have found those trails to be a big draw for me as well. Right now, I drive my son, and his & mine bikes over to a court in the parkway to ride the trails. Once he gets better at riding though, where he can handle the hills between my house and the parkway, the car will get left at home on the weekends.
I would rather be Backpacking

Well, you don't have to be a rocket science to figure out a stereotype...Generally, speaking people who feel the need to live in a neighborhood that has strict HOAs and most of the houses look exactly alike, have certain expectations of the kinds of people they want living by them..PEOPLE like them...Haven't you heard of white flight? Are you saying it doesn't exist? Now, this isn't white flight because Folsom is very diverse; however, it is socio-economic flight....Middle class people and upper middle class tend to want to "keep up with the Joneses" otherwise where does the terminology come from???? THe Parkway is a microcosim of sameness...The houses look the same, the yards, the two-income families for the most part, the mini-vans, the white collar jobs (Intel, EDS, and the like) etc......NOW, if you want to be a sheep don't be ashamed. It's your choice to live like this...Maybe you are a little "out of the box" to differentiate yourself, but most who live that lifestyle do so because they feel safe doing so.....Safety is a primal need....That's why they have private security so people will feel more secure.....THERE'S nothing wrong with wanting to feel safe and feel like the people around you probably share the same values etc.....THAT's why people go to Church...To meet people with the same beliefs etc.....SOme people are just different...They don't have the need to conform by living in a big box house and working 9-5pm...Otherwise, you wouldn't have great artists, scientists and great inventors......This country needs the middle class, the worker bees so to speak...SOmeone's gotta pay the taxes for all of the corporate and individual welfare:)
Americans, don't just come in one color or race.

You really think you have it figured out?? I think you give yourself too much credit.

Back on topic, Folsom PD says:

The van and it’s occupants were contacted by our detectives and it has been determined they were delivering telephone books. No credence to the allegation that one of the occupants was wearing a mask. The School District will also notify their parents that it was a phone book delivery vehicle via their email system.

Oh come on! A 'second van' theory?

You believe there were two white vans with middle aged men driving slowly through neighborhoods with the side door open, one delivering phone books, and the other following kids?

Someone said they saw the van on THURSDAY, not just tuesday.... unless that was "exaggerated" too.... rolleyes.gif

So there was a white van that does the phone books, and the tuesday circulars (which I am not sure what that is... but doesn't sound like phone books, every tuesday,) and are the SAME VAN?? because there can not be 2 "white vans" in folsom at the same time?

You just cannot admit you're wrong and are dragging this out making something out of nothing. So you don't believe the PD now? You go off information from an email? Ugh. BTW, nice pic you have there, who is that for, the people that don't agree with you?

The phone book van was "positively identified" by the student and parents. It's the same one.
"Sometimes on purpose and sometimes by accident, teachers' unions have a long history of working against the interests of children in the name of job security for adults. And Democrats in particular have a history of facilitating this obstructionism in exchange for campaign donations and votes." . . .Amanda Ripley re "Waiting for Superman" movie.
