i am convinced that there were students having sex at that dance, in the middle of the dance floor. IS it happening or not, is no longer the question...what can we, as a community, as parents, do about it from here on out is now the issue?

if nothing else, at least an awareness has been raised among us adults and obviously some good conversations between parents and teens are taking place.

You may be convinced, but not everybody is. What's being discussed is not a matter of fact, but rather of hearsay. One girl saying that she overheard another girl saying that she had had sex 2 times already that night doesn't cut it. How does the girl who heard this know that the other girl hadn't had sex twice with her boyfriend before the dance? We don't. We still have not heard from anybody who actually saw it with their own two eyes. What we have heard on this forum from students who were at the dance is that it did not happen.

It seems to me that it has to be established with certainty that the dancefloor sex was actually something that happened before we even know that there is anything that "we, as a community, as parents" can do about it. If it didn't happen, then it's a diversion from things that we know are actually going on.

I heard they were having sex in a white van without license plates and they were all wearing Richard Nixon masks.

AND, I heard principle skinner and ms krabapel were in the closet making babies and i saw one of the babies and the baby looked at me.

How many kids (and adults) have nightmares about showing up in school in their pajamas!

Me! Well, in my dream it's my first day back in school, I don't have any pajamas on, I can't remember my locker combination and I've lost my class schedule!

LOL! I heard it was Chef and Ms. Choksond#k, though and I know a kid who heard that he saw them driving together in the white van.

Sensationalism and rumor. Dare I suggest that most of the "info." provided by normajean is based on 1.) Rumor and suspicion from kids who weren't at the dance and 2.) Vista motivated sensationalism?

I know I am from the dark ages, but I can not imagine any of my early sexual experiences being witnessed by anyone! rolleyes.gif Let alone my entire HS! How many kids (and adults) have nightmares about showing up in school in their pajamas! To think that sex on a dance floor goes unnoticed by chaperones that were administering breathalizers at the door and is accepted as "cool" to form a circle and hide is ludicrous.

Believe what you like. Personally I think Elvis is dead, nobody had sex on the dance floor at Folsom and the Cubs just choked again. smile.gif tongue.gif

Why do we need to drag Vista into this?

I get a kick out of a society that is hell bent on pushing sex on our kids, condoms in school, sex-instruction in class, free after-the-fact remedies, broadcasting the message that "Everyone is doing it anyway"
... and then gets upset when the kids do what they're told.

Amen to that! But I don't buy it anyway. Not at the dance anyway.

I talked to some kids who attended, and they saw nothing of the sort. Like Realitycheck said, there are some who try to push the envelope and if caught get warned with bracelet removal and then booted for a second offense.

Even if some kids were brave enough to try sex in the middle of a crowd, too many other students would be disgusted and/or outraged and/or shocked. They would have moved away and created other kinds of a stir making it visible to chaperones.

One drunk girl, I believe. Sneaking away to a bathroom and misbehaving, I believe could happen although the bathrooms are also monitored by chaperones. Students love to tell people outrageous stories and watch their reaction. I'm guessing that's what's happening here.

And Democrats in particular have a history of facilitating this obstructionism in exchange for campaign donations and votes." . . .Amanda Ripley re "Waiting for Superman" movie.

1. speculation and rumor from kids who weren't at the dance??? what?? where did that come from? everything i have written was reported by kids that attended the dance. yes, the bathroom conversation could be hearsay, i only told you what the girl heard with her own 2 ears. a couple other posters report their children also had the same stories when questioned, WITH the same info, described the same way. the info told to me was very graphic, i have chosen not to share that here, ok, i'd probably have been sensored. it was viewed first hand, the kids WERE disgusted and they DID leave. another poster says his/her child saw a used condom on the floor....draw your own conclusions...i've drawn mine

2. what does vista have to do with anything? again, where did that come from?

3. don't believe it is happening, close your eyes and do nothing. so be it. i only posted to bring some awareness to a sad situation. do with it as you will

Don't worry, kids these days don't use condoms for sex.

It probably just had heroine or something in it.

LOL on the heroine!

Pretty good trick to get a condom on in the middle of a dance floor! Hey, at least they're having "safe" sex. blink.gif

wait until the day you folks hear it from your daughter(s), it tends to make one less skeptical, especially after hearing from all their friends too, they have no reason to make this stuff up.

It is true, as confirmed by my neice to my brother.

But there are people/parents here who don't want to believe it and/or make dumb jokes about it (insinuating it's not true)....and I can't say I blame 'em.

To them I say: Grab some reality, folks.

Reality is a good thing...even if it scares you.
I have opinions, you have opinions. We'll just call it even...is that OK ??

Won't happen. They'd have to put down the Bon Bon's and Martini's for that.

And the key point is this town is SO into image the parents just brush off these dumb-founded arguments because they fail to ever believe their little Johnny or Suzie would ever behave in such a manner. So, the cell phone babbling and soccer SUV caravans will continue while the kids fall deeper into trouble because it's all about how you look and not act.
...Saying what people are thinking but are afraid to say....
