Yes, I feel empathy. I turn the situation inward (perhaps selfishly) and think "Gosh dang, that would suck if that happened to my son! I would feel like crap, my wife would be a mess, I can only imagine how they're feeling." I don't like anyone feeling bad, and the thought that someone, anyone (and everyone everywhere), is going through that makes me 'feel' things.

I try not to let every death bring me down, or I'd be upset every 3.6 seconds, but high profile stories like this (or local news) are sharp reminders of how lucky I am that my family is healthy and alive.

Very well said mylo, not sure why its so hard for chip to understand that - instead he's got to make up crap calling people weepy and having fixations on celebrities so he can berate people and dump on them.

Now I do know a person that is an emotional basket case that does go on & on.

Yep....same as the Princess Diana crowd who still, to this day, light candles and balloons and Teddy Bears.

It's a maturity thing, of course.

Very well said. This is what I was getting at...I am not even a fan of Travolta so believe me it has nothing to do with celebrity stuff. BOTTOM LINE: A father had to bury his son. Thats sad. The fact that all this other crap in this thread has come up really has made me sick.
