People are saying Obama will take us to socialism, and I don't see how that can be bad. If the goverment is in charge, the system should run smoother and cheaper. You see all these companies failing, maybe its time for goverment to run the economy. We should at laest give it a try, and Obama would be the ideal guy to mastermind it. We need to try it before we dissmiss it.

Mom & pops sustain our economy way more than most people realize. Just ask the people that own businesses on Sutter. If that part of the business community isn't supported, look at what it would do to Folsom on a whole if it goes away? Palladio might alter their ability to sustain. A small business owners support to the local community has greater value, IMHO, than a corporate box store. I agree they have their place, but I will always choose a small mom & pop to spend my money with over a chain... That's just my personal preference & it makes me happy to help another family stay in their home, etc.

And as for "Lifestyle/Open/Town & Country" centers, I think of Bird Cage on Sunrise... that place has had the hardest time with tenants even when the economy was doing great.

You also lose great customer service going to the chain stores vs a mom and pop store

Think of all the threads on here people post complaining about the service they get a local businesses. Being "mom and pop" doesn't equate to a better customer experience.

A main concern of mine is the return policy of a store. Mom & pop stores return policies are much more of an ordeal than corporate stores and I feel bad and guilty when having to get a refund at the mom & pop store. Only my opinion.

The soviet union tried it, it was a dismal failure, let's not see how long it takes before a loaf of bread costs more than a days wage and you can only buy it if you can find it for sale.

The countries with the highest standards of living are based on capitalism, ever wonder why? The North Koreans can't even produce enough energy to have lights on at night. Ever see the map of the nighttime earth. You can pick out North Korea as that dark blotch between South Korea and China. Then we have Fidel Castro's version of socialism, yes, those happy cubans never try to leave Cuba to come to America wacko.gif

I forget the actual numbers, but Small Businesses make up a huge part of our economy.

As for Birdcage walk, I don't understand why with the sweltering heat in summer and the typical rains in December, developers think an open air mall works in Folsom, I really wish Palladio was being built as an indoor mall.

What? Those of us that worked for Obama share his vision. Nothing wrong with allowing a duly elected Pres (unlike Bush) to do the peoples work. Don't be rude, just voicing my opinion. I was tolerent of Bush, now people should be tolerent of Obama and his talent. As far a Palladium Mall, it will be weird to see that half built all the time. But the palms should look good by next summer.

I like the idea of a roller rink / ice rink, bowling alley and movie theater. I hope something gets done with the site one way or another. It wouldn't look good just sitting there half built with a bunch of skinny palm trees around it. Even though indoor malls are not the in thing anymore, I still like them better than out door ones. I guess it is because I grew up going to indoor malls.

Well at least there is the cut-thru from Broadstone to Iron Point. Maybe they will even remove the stop signs in there so people in a hurry can do 70 mph to get to REI real fast.
