no, actually alllllll of you put yourself in the position in the family including the details and tell me you believe having your child shot was the best solution, and that you would accept that.

read my previous post about where I said I will be reluctant to call if I am ever in this position myself....

however, I trust FPD. Even though the outcome sucks, even though I was not there to see what went down, I believe they did their best, and did not WANT to kill anyone.

if you dont want to kill anyone, then you dont have to kill anyone.

they knew the situation when they went to the house...why didn't the FPD bring along a Karate instructor..(or any black belt for that matter)..I'm sure they could have taken the kid down without a tragic outcome.

you people on here are really sick. you keep saying police did what they had to do. what about the boys situation, thats the reason they showed up to help him. you really think possible drugged up male, who hasnt eatan or maybe even slept in a few days as mention, is really going to take out a officer. jesus, im sure one of the cops could have dropped him easily while avoiding damage. the whole guns drawn thing is completely overated, its mainly used to scare people. i think the police are sissys if they have to resort to guns as to trying to do their job of helping the person they came their for.

Wanna try an experiment? Come take me down. All I have is a knife... thats what i thought...

are you nuts?? you get all hot and bothered by a few people questioning the almighty folsom pd yet when it comes to them feeling a little unsafe you give them blanket authority to kill?? I dont follow that logic at all.. Heres a newsflash, Cops are paid to be in dangerous situations! Thats what they do! If they dont like it, or are too incompetent to handle these situations properly and safely then dont join the force! Im sure not a day goes by in the life of a cop where they dont feel threatned or afraid in some way during the day.. Do they have the right to blow away anyone they feel might be a threat? Absolutely not! The point is they are trained and instructed on how to diffuse these situations with as little bloodshed as possible, and if your boys in blue could have done that, none of us would be having this converstion right now..

You were there right? So you know that they walked in the house and started shooting. You will talk $hit about cops all day but I bet you would also be the first to call them if you needed help. It's such a $hitty double standard.

A person who is delusional, deranged, sleep deprived, drunk, on drugs, basically an altered mental state can be very dangerous and can sometimes be impervious to pain and very difficult to control.

We weren't there, so we don't know how it all went down, but I can't believe that the cops just arbitrarily decided to take this kid out.

I think they reacted to a serious threat in the way they were trained to, and that they are filled with regret for having to do it. I am sure they did not want to take that young man's life.

I've known lots of cops here in Folsom, and all of them have been great to me, but then again, I've never come at them with a knife.

LOL...that's right..it's true, and I am serious. A gun was not necessary in this situation.

Well, not that a Karate instructor should go on a police call, but martial arts training would be very beneficial to law enforcement. If I was a cop, I would want to be proficient in Martial arts, it's good to have multiple tools available in your arsenal of weapons.
I would rather be Backpacking

build it up as big as you want...reality is, the young man weighed 120 lbs. His family called the PD to get him help. If the officers that arrived on the scene could not handle the situation, they should have called in someone that could.

I would agree if the officer somehow ended up disarmed, but I think when they are in uniform they are obligated to follow whatever protocols they are taught in the academy. Having one officer go all Jackie Chan when the others aren't expecting it could end up in a dangerous situation, too. Then you'd have people complaining that the officer didn't need to break an arm to diffuse the situation.
